Kangana Ranaut has officially confirmed the delay of her film 'Emergency.' Initially set for release on Friday, September 6, the movie has encountered a delay due to pending certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Kangana made the announcement on her X (formerly known as Twitter) account on Friday, assuring fans that a new release date for her directorial venture will be revealed shortly.

“With a heavy heart I announce that my directorial Emergency has been postponed, we are still waiting for the certification from censor board, new release date will be announced soon, thanks for your understanding and patience (sic),” she wrote.

Just two days after the Bombay High Court declined to issue any orders, following a directive from the Madhya Pradesh HC instructing the CBFC to review objections to the film before granting certification, the situation unfolded. The High Court instructed the censor board to address the raised objections concerning the movie and certify it by September 18.

Just last week, Kangana spoke out about 'Emergency' facing hurdles with CBFC clearance and expressed her determination to fight for her film. “It’s getting too late. I hope the film comes on time. Otherwise, I am determined to fight for it. I am determined to even go to court to protect my film. To save my right as an individual. You can’t change history and scare us by threats,” she told IANS.

“We have to show the history. An almost 70-year-old woman was shot 30-35 times in her house… Someone must have killed her. Now you want to show it… Because apparently, you think you can hurt someone. But you have to show the history. So how did she die?” the actress added.

Following her previous statements, Kangana further asserted that CBFC is holding the 'Emergency' certificate 'illegally.'

Kangana Ranaut isn't just the lead in 'Emergency'; she's also helming it as the director. Alongside Kangana, the movie features Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, and Shreyas Talpade, among others. In the film, Shreyas Talpade takes on the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, while Anupam Kher portrays Jayaprakash Narayan. Additionally, the late actor Satish Kaushik will be portraying Former Deputy Prime Minister of India, Jagjivan Ram.

The movie has encountered boycotts and calls for a ban due to various Sikh organizations accusing it of misrepresenting the community. The SGPC and the Akal Takht have urged an immediate ban on the film, alleging that it seeks to tarnish the image of Sikhs by portraying them negatively.
