Jigra Controversy: Mary Kom Actor Claims Alia Bhatt Film's Team Cast and Ignored Him

North East actor Bijou Thaangjam has raised concerns against the team of Alia Bhatt's film Jigra. He alleged that they ghosted him after confirming his role in the movie. Bijou, who was also in Mary Kom, shared his disappointment on X. He mentioned that after being selected for a role, he turned down several other offers to remain available for Jigra. Unfortunately, despite being promised shooting dates, he never received the final call.

Bijou expressed frustration, calling the situation "dismissive, almost discriminatory" towards a North East actor. He explained, “In 2023, their casting team asked me to audition for a role, and I sent my tapes twice over four months. In November, they confirmed I would shoot in December, but never provided fixed dates. They blocked my entire month, expecting me to be available anytime. Since I am from Imphal, Manipur, I told them about travel arrangements, but they didn’t care.” His frustration grew as the month passed without any clarity on when he’d be required for the shoot.

He shared, “I kept contacting the casting team throughout December, but got no updates. The last message I got was on December 26th, saying ‘Waiting for a revert’. After that, complete silence. I missed out on other work while waiting for their confirmation, which never came.” This left him disheartened, especially since he had already cleared his schedule for the film.

Bijou admitted that he understands how production houses function but felt this situation could have been handled more professionally. He stated, “The director is talented, but how they treated me was unprofessional. As a Northeast actor, I felt dismissed. My time was wasted, and I missed out on other jobs because they expected me to be available immediately.”

Bijou clarified that he has no agenda but wants to highlight the challenges Northeast actors face in big production houses. The Jigra team has yet to respond to his accusations.
