Jay Soni on facing backlash for YRKKH: If I think of them I'll have to sit at home & I have a family to run

Jay Soni, who was roped in by the makers of Star Plus' popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has been in the news for quite some time now. The actor, who is all set to mark his exit from the show, has been creating waves on the internet as the audience of the show has finally accepted his character and is saddened by his exit from the show. Even though Rajan Shahi, the producer of the show, called Jay's departure from the show 'pre-planned,' the actor's exit has left fans of the show heartbroken.

In an exclusive chat with us, Jay answered a few questions about the show, his exit and much more. 

Do you think this character was the much-awaited comeback for you?

Yes absolutely. This show was the best comeback I could have ever requested. I say this because it is 'The Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai ', Legendary' 'Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,' Rajan Shahi, the production house and Star Plus. And above it all, the character had so many layers, so to perform this character as an actor was a treat. So yes, this character was a much-awaited comeback for me. 

As an actor, taking up a character where you know you will receive backlash because your character was coming in between the lead pair of the show, did you have any apprehensions, and how do you look back at this decision and the journey of Abhinav now?

Honestly, as an actor, I did not think of all this. Because my only job as an actor is to perform and not think about all this. I wanted to serve my character with loyalty and honesty, which was my only approach. If I started thinking of all this, I would have to sit at home and well, I have a family to run, so I did not think of all this. My job is to act; that is what I did and will always do. 

The audience was slowly accepting your character, and it had ended. Will it be easy for the audience to accept it?

This is how life is, and it is unpredictable. When everything is going well, something happens suddenly. And this is what has happened in our show too. I have been getting many messages asking me about my exit and why I am leaving the show. But this is what the story demands, and this will keep the audience hooked to the show. And I think my 'Golia' (Shreyansh Kaurav) will miss me.
