Singers are no less than celebrities and they deserve to be
honored for all their precious contributions to the Bollywood movies that all
of us fawn over. Bollywood movies are famous for their integration of profound
songs at various points of the film. However, we would all agree that along
with the perfect lyrics, tune and melody, a flawless voice to match is
necessary. Hence, we at BollyCurry would like to honor an illustrious playback
singer of all times, Mr. Shantanu Mukherjee (Shaan), popularly known as "Shaan",
for his phenomenal contribution towards the music industry, and the Indian
cinema.
Gracing the face of this Earth on
the 30th September,
1972, Shaan began singing jingles for advertisements as a young lad. At age of
seventeen, his musical career kicked off with a single line in the song
"Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti Hamari" featured in the movie Parinda. Being a determined
individual, Shaan later signed a contract with Magnasound Recording Company
along with his sister, and this truly marked the commencement of his musical
journey.
Initially well-liked for his
remixes, our Illuminated Artiste of the Month has a few popular solo albums to
his name, one of which, Tanha Dil, bagged him the Best Solo Album award in the
year 2000. Gaining recognition rapidly for singing in various languages, he has
achieved the Best Playback Singer Award in the Male Category on numerous
occasions for the hit songs "Jab Se Tere Naina" (Saawariya),
"Chand Sifarish" (Faana), "Suno Na" (Jhankaar
Beats) and "Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh" (3 Idiots), whilst
being nominated in the same category for creditable songs such as "Dus
Bahane" (Dus), "Nikamma" (Kya Dil Ne Kahan) and
"Koi Kahe Kehta Rahein" (Dil Chahta Hai).
Finally, not only
was this multi-talented man an amazing vocal personality, he has also proved
himself as a spokesperson by winning the Favorite Host Award in 2009 for the
reality show, Star Voice of India. Shaan has indeed contributed his best for
the music platform, and his record is still on going, making him one of the
best playback singers in Bollywood.
BollyCurry would now like to
provide a mini playlist of some, certainly not all, of Shaan's widely
recognized songs for his endearing fans, all in random order.
