The man of the moment, Hrithik Roshan, is currently on a high with back to back hits with films like Super 30 and War. The handsome hunk of Bollywood never fails to amaze the audience with his performance, be it either Anand Kumar or rogue agent, Kabir! However, it was not always a smooth ride for the superstar, as we take you down the memory lane, tracing back to the time when Hrithik wanted to quit films.

It was in January 2000, the year Hrithik made his debut in films with Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai alongside Amisha Patel. The film went on to become a crowd favorite and was a massive blockbuster success. However, amidst the celebrations, the Roshans fell prey to a tragic incident. Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan was shot in Santacruz, near his office, which had left his entire family and whole of Bollywood devastated.

For the uninitiated, back in 2000, Rakesh Roshan was attacked by two members of the Budesh gang who had fired two bullets at him. Though the assailants fled from the scene, Roshan was saved as he was taken to hospital on time. Since the film Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai had become a massive commercial success, the underworld gang wanted a share of its profits, a demand Roshan had stalled, reported Zoom.

Weeks after the appalling incident, Hrithik in an interview with Simi Garewal had opened up how he felt responsible for the attack on his father and wanted to quit films at that time. “From shock to anger to seeing dad there on the hospital bed, I had never seen him like this. I wanted to quit, I really wanted to just quit films because I knew I was directly or indirectly responsible for what had happened to him and nothing was worth it. All this is not worth his life,” Zoom quoted Hrithik as saying.

A teary-eyed Hrithik further stated, “I think I should have [quit films] because it is very disillusioning and maybe, it goes from bad to worse. I know I had that chance then. I did not take the first step so I cannot hold anyone else responsible for not doing anything about it. I did not do anything about it.”

Moreover, Hrithik had also stated that he would have been a different person had the incident not occurred. He also revealed that he did not get a chance to celebrate the success of Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai.

Well, the unfortunate time passed, and the Roshan’s are now happy and content.
