How the audience wants to perceive it is entirely on them: Shambhavi Singh on Muskaan going against Akshara

Shambhavi Singh, who essays the character of Muskaan in Star Plus' popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, got in an exclusive conversation with India Forums and spoke to us about her journey as Muskaan in the show. The actress also commented on her character Muskaan turning negative and her experience working with the show's cast. 

The show's current track revolves around a high-voltage drama, which has raised the TRPs, too. How has shooting for this intense drama come along?

Indeed, the current track of the show revolves around a high-voltage drama, which has raised the TRPs, too, and shooting for this intense drama has been quite exhausting both physically & mentally. But at the same time, it's exciting for us to perform such a range of emotions & we must blow life into the characters & justify it so well that it's entertaining & worth watching those 30 minutes for the audience.

Tell us about your journey as Muskaan in the show.

The journey as "Muskaan" has been incredible so far, touch wood. I'm glad the audience accepted her wholeheartedly & showered her with so much love & support, for which I'll be grateful to them. As a human, I evolved positively. I got to be a part of Rajasthani and Pahadi culture & traditions, which was enlightening as I was unaware of their rituals. Overall, it's magical being "Muskaan." 

How has it been working with the cast of YRKKH?

The experience so far has been excellent. It's my debut show & it's going to be almost eight months of me being "Muskaan," which seems like an eye blink to me. It still feels like the first day. Every day, I'm learning something new from everyone around me on set. The cast is top-notch, skilled in the craft & are very supportive & cooperative. I enjoy working with them. It never feels that you're working as such a homely environment surrounds you. I feel blessed to be a part of it. Though it's just the beginning & I know it will be the most magical journey I will ever have.

Who on set is your most significant support?

As I told you earlier, I feel at home when on set. So everyone on set, whether it's the cast, directors, production or any department, is so reciprocal that if you feel low, everyone collectively pushes you, motivates you & makes you believe in yourself & makes you deliver your best.

In the current track of the show, your character has gone against Akshara, and your reasons are correct, too. However, will the audience be able to receive this well?

Currently, the track of Muskaan has gone against not only Akshara but her family, too & the audience knows the reason very well. I know my part, i.e., to perform the character of 'Muskaan'  well. But how the audience wants to perceive it is entirely on them. It varies from person to person as everyone's mindsets are different & it's okay to have their opinions & judgments, whether positive or negative.
