Hina Khan, Kapil Sharma and Huma Qureshi summoned by the ED in the ‘Mahadev betting app’ case

The Mahadev app, known for facilitating illegal betting on various online games such as poker, card games, chance games, badminton, tennis, football, and cricket, is allegedly operated by Saurabh and Ravi Uppal, based in Dubai, where betting is legal, though it's deemed illegal in India. Well, in the past few days, a few celebrities have been questioned in regards to the app. Most recent one being Ranbir Kapoor. 

Following Ranbir Kapoor's recent summons by the ED (Enforcement Directorate), news agency ANI has reported that Kapil Sharma and Huma Qureshi have also been summoned in connection with the Mahadev betting app case. Additionally, Hina Khan has received a summons for the same matter.

In a tweet, ANI stated, "ED has called comedian Kapil Sharma and actor Huma Qureshi for questioning in the Mahadev betting app case: ED Sources." Actor Hina Khan has been called for a similar purpose, as reported by News18.

All three individuals are scheduled to appear before the ED on Friday.

Ranbir Kapoor was previously summoned to clarify his knowledge of the source of funds he received for promoting the betting app. According to a News18 report, the agency also requested the actor to visit their office in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on October 6. An ED source emphasized that Kapoor was summoned for informational purposes and not as an accused party. His responses are essential to gain insights into the funding sources and the potential involvement of the app's promoters.

Sources within the ED revealed that approximately 17 Bollywood celebrities are implicated in this matter. These individuals, including Shraddha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Sonakshi Sinha, and others, attended or performed at the company head Sourabh Chandrakar's wedding in February earlier this year and the company's success celebration in September 2022.
