Today, on the 4th of October, we celebrate the birthday of a celebrity belonging to the royal family. We, of course, are talking about the actress, Soha Ali Khan.
Soha
was born to the family of Nawabs of Pataudi. Her parents are the former
Indian cricket team captain, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and yesteryear
Bollywood diva, Sharmila Tagore. While actor Saif Ali Khan is her elder
brother, popular actress Kareena Kapoor is her sister-in-law.
Soha
completed her education from the British School, New Delhi and then
took Geography at Balliol College, Oxford. She even owns a masters in
International Relations from London School of Economics and Political
Science.
Belonging
to a well-known family and growing up in an acting background, Soha's
entry in Bollywood was quite natural. However, she was quite involved in
other activities outside the cinematic world before making her
Bollywood debut in Dil Maange More in 2004 alongside Shahid Kapoor and Ayesha Takia. The film was a moderate success and later she was seen in movies such as Rang De Basanti (2006), Khoya Khoya Chand (2007), Mumbai Meri Jaan(2008), 99 (2009), Tum Mile (2009), Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster Returns (2013) and Go Goa Gone (2013).
Though being the daughter of a mother who is still known for garnering
hits after hits in the olden times, Soha unfortunately failed to repeat
her mom's history. This is largely due to the fact that the majority of
her films did not work at the box office except the fact that she was
appreciated for a few character portrayals. She will soon be seen in
films such War Chhod Na Yaar and Airport scheduled to release later this year.
Soha
might have been a part of some unsuccessful films but she has managed
to garner a good few soulful and pleasant soundtracks with her steady
career in Bollywood.
Below is a mini-playlist of her biggest hits:
