4th August marks the birthday of an actor who is also a director and a National Award Winner producer. Yes, we're talking about none other than Arbaaz Khan who celebrates his 47th birthday today!
Born
in 1967 to well known screenwriter, Salim Khan and Sushila Charak,
Khan is a Muslim from his father's side and Maharashtrian Hindu from
his mother's side. He has an elder brother, actor Salman Khan, a
younger brother, actor-producer Sohail Khan, and two sisters, Alvira Khan Agnihotri
and Arpita Khan, who was adopted. He studied at The Scindia
School in Gwalior for a few years and then completed his schooling at
St. Stanislaus in Bandra, Mumbai. He is currently married to VJ, model and actress Malaika Arora Khan and the couple have a son named Arhaan, born in 2004.
Khan
debuted in Bollywood as an actor with Daraar in 1996, which lead him to receive the Filmfare Best
Villain Award for his portrayal of a psychotic wife-beater. Though
not a very successful actor in his solo films, Khan's performance in
movies such as Maa Tujhe Salaam (2002), Qayamat: City Under
Threat (2003), Garv: Pride and Honour (2004), Bhagham
Bhag (2006), Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), Fashion
(2008) and Kisaan (2009) were all applauded by the audience and
critics.
In
2010, Khan ventured into production with the all-time blockbuster hit Dabangg under Arbaaz Khan Productions. The film starred Salman
Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles along with himself, Vinod
Khanna, Dimple Kapadia, Mahie Gill and Sonu Sood. With its promising
cast, stylish action and chart topping music, the film went on to break all
records within a week and received mostly positive reviews from
critics. Khan went on to win a National Award for the Best Popular Film
Providing Wholesome Entertainment, a Filmfare Award, an IIFA Award, a
Zee Cine Award, two Stardust Awards, and an Apsara Film &
Television Producers Guild Award. After his successful stint as
producer, Khan made his directional debut with Dabangg 2 in
2012. Although it received mixed reviews from the critics, the film
was declared a blockbuster within a week of its release.
The super successful star is currently working on his next production venture, Dolly Ki Doli,
starring Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Pulkit Sharma in lead roles. The project is set to release 6th February, 2015.
