As the 2012 comes to end, Bollywood welcomes 2013 with open arms. 2013 marks the year of remakes and sequels. Without further adieu, BollyCurry presents what Tinsel Town has to offer in the new year!
B-Town's first release starts off with a bang with Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola
starring
Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma. The trailers of this comedy along with
Anushka's surprising, bold avatar have become the talk of the town. Set
in Haryana, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is a bizarre story, as
stated by director Vishal Bhardwaj. The plot revolves around a wealthy
industrialist, Harry (Pankaj Kapoor), his daughter Bijlee (Anushka
Sharma) and
Harry's "man friday" (Imran Khan). Bijlee is ready to marry Badaal (Arya
Babber), who happens to the son of a politician (Shabana Azmi). You
would think everything would be simple, but apparently not and that is
the plot of the movie! Don't forget to
see how this story unfolds just two weeks into the New Year on January
11th,
2013.
ABCD - Anybody Can Dance is the next directorial venture from the ace choreographer, Remo D'Souza. Multiple Dance India Dance fames will be seen setting the screen on fire. Prabhu Deva, Kay Kay Menon and Ganesh Acharya are said to have pivotal roles in the movie. The plot takes you through the journey of Vishnu (Prabhu Deva) who lives to dance. However, due to certain circumstances, he decides to leave dancing forever. Moments before he gives up on dancing totally, he discovers a batch of fresh talent. He then takes a stand to turn this crew into India's best. Rumor mills have it that director D'Souza has already planned for a sequel even before the release of this prequel. A risky yet passionate move we must say. Tagged as "India's first 3D Dance Film," this musical will dance its way to theaters on February 8th, 2013.
When it's a year of sequels and thrillers, how can the Murder franchise stay behind? Mahesh Bhatt presents Murder 3 starring Randeep Hooda, Aditi Rao Hydari and debutante Mona Laizza. The first look poster was revealed on expected D-Day, December 21st with the release of Dabangg 2. Rumors have it that the film is based on American horror film Jennifer's Body. The tagline states This Valentine, Love will be murdered. Will you go catch this horrific murder film on Feburary 15th, 2013?
March 8th will see the return of Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster with a sequel. The old star cast consisting of Jimmy Shergill, Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda will remain apart of the follow-on. Irrfan Khan and Soha Ali Khan have also been roped in for part 2. Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster was applauded by critics for its provoking and strong story line - will part two have the same outcome? To find out, catch this drama thriller in a theater near you.
Continuing the trends of sequels, Balaji Motion Pictures and White Feather Films are ready to set the screen on fire with Shootout at Wadala. This venture will see John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Sonu Sood, Manoj Bajpai, Ronit Roy, Mahesh Manjrekar and Tusshar Kapoor . It is said to be based on Dongri to Dubai - Six Decades of The Mumbai Mafia, a book written by S. Hissain Zaidi. Rumors also have it that 'Desi girl' Priyanka Chopra will be seen dancing on an item number. Catch this crime film on May 1st, 2013!
Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone fans have a reason to rejoice as this stunning pair makes a comeback on the big screen with Dharma Productions' Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kalki Koehlin will also be seen in the film playing pivotal roles. Ayan Mukherji directs this romance film and Pritam will serve as the music director. This venture will be hitting the big screen on May 31st, 2013.
