If there’s one thing that any cinephiles and ardent fans of Dimple Kapadia can vouch for, it’s that the actress is one of the most-versatile artists out there. Be it in Bollywood, Tollywood or Hollywood, she surely knows how to play any role under the sun with impeccable sincerity to leave us in awe.

Along with her charm that continues to win hearts aplenty, the actor is known to bite into the meat of the role making us believe that it’s the character and not her who we see on screen. Along with the much-anticipated release of her upcoming show Tandav, that’s drops this week, here are 5 roles played by Dimple which shows us that she is one of the most versatile actresses.

Bobby:

How can we forget Bobby if we are talking about Dimple Kapadia. Making her debut at 16 as a young starlet, Dimple was absolutely phenomenal in this movie with her black and white polka dot dress making a style statement in the 70s along with her songs with Rishi Kapoor being cherished to this very day. We certainly wished that we were locked in a room with her and sing to her Hum tum ek kamre mein band ho. And if you thought she was an actor who couldn’t shake a leg, her performance in Jhoot bole kauava kate was a sign of things to come.

Rudaali:

The internationally recognized and critically-acclaimed film was set in Rajasthan and was based on the life of a woman named Shanichari who was abandoned by her mother shortly after her father’s death and the unfortunate luck that she faces. Dimple nailed the role of a female weeper with her acting skills and great command over the language. She dug deep into the skin of the protagonist and shook the film entity with her bold and realistic performance.

Dil Chahta Hai:

While we will always fondly cherish this evergreen film about friendship, the film also gave us the quintessential character of Tara Jaiswal, played by Dimple Kapadia. Playing a single mother who loves painting and can decode an artist's inner feeling worked like magic left behind an indelible mark on our minds each time we watch the movie. Her simplicity and maturity in dealing with what Sid feels for her were the attributes which always made us remember her while talking about this film.

Tenet:

If we all are thinking that Dimple is a Bollywood star, we are mistaken because she recently made her mark in Hollywood as well. Directed by the Christopher Nolan, Tenet is Dimple’s first international English language film. Her role was a complete contrast to anything that she’d done before. Playing the negative character of an arms trafficker, the actress still managed to look her stunning bet and made sure that she brought a host of fireworks to the screen playing the elite class vamp.

Tandav:

Marking her digital debut on an OTT platform through Tandav, Dimple has proved that she is up for any challenge. Tandav is an upcoming political thriller drama series exclusively releasing on Amazon Prime Video on the 15th January 2020. Starring Saif Ali Khan and Dimple, along with the likes of Tigmanshu Dhulia, Zeeshan Ayyub, Sunil Grover, Kritika Kamra, Sarah Jane Dias, Dino Morea, Kumud Mishra, Gauhar Khan, Sandhya Mridul, Anup Soni and Shonali Nagrani among others, Tandav is a series that sees a host of power-hungry and influential people in the quest to sit on the throne. The show will see Dimple play the role of a politician, for the first time ever, who has ambitions of becoming the country’s PM. Having all eyes on the prize, we certainly can’t wait to see what’s in store.
