Without a doubt, 2016 has proven successful for Bollywood; but at the same time, one cannot ignore the fact that failure exists too. Although the year has seen many hit movies, a few movies turned out to be a disappointment. Today, BollyCurry lists a few such movies that failed to churn their magic at the box office and claim recognition amongst the masses.
Inspired from Charles Dickens'
Great Expectations, the movie created much hype for its location and story. Directed by
Abhishek Kapoor and starring
Katrina Kaif and
Aditya Roy Kapur, the film has been one of the biggest disappointment of the year! The overdramatic situations, and edgy characters couldn't engage the audience despite the brilliant performances by
Tabu and Kapur.

Fan starred one of the finest actor of Bollywood,
Shah Rukh Khan. The movie saw one of the biggest opening of the year, but soon after a week, the numbers went down drastically. Khan portrayed the double role of Gaurav Chanana and Aryan Khanna. Even though the movie is said to be one of Khan's best performance, the movie is also termed as the biggest dissatisfaction in the last fifteen years of his career.
This movie was one of the highest anticipated movie of the year because of its genre. It came into news for the stellar cast and ancient history associated with the name. But it was all nothing. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and starring
Hrithik Roshan and
Pooja Hegde, the movie had nothing awe-worthy. It beats the audience how so much time and effort were spent to create something jaw-dropping, but it was all a waste of time.
If you had a chance to go back into the past and fix it, what would you do? You would grab this opportunity. Audience felt the same. If they had one chance to fix their past, they would unwind their three hours they spent watching this flick. Directed by
Nitya Mehra, the movie starred
Sidharth Malhotra and
Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. While the movie had some brilliant performances, it definitely didn't stand out where the story was concerned. The only saving grace for the movie was its album. Thank goodness for that!
Director
Ravi Jadhav managed to capture the essence of Mumbai, music and
chawl culture beautifully, yet the movie failed when it came to the story. The story only seemed like old wine in a new bottle. The movie was one of the most highly anticipated due to the various Marathi hit movies the director had in his kitty. Alas, it didn't work out this time. Even though the movie failed at box office, one cannot ignore the brilliant performance of
Riteish Deshmukh and, of course, the "
Banjo" music.
As we speak of flop movies, we cannot forget the debacle
Rock On!! 2. Sequel to the super hit movie,
Rock On (2008), the audience had very high hopes from this multi-starcast starrer. But sometimes, things don't work the way we want and the same happened with this one. Even though the movie saw the reunion of Magik (the band), various plots and sub-plots didn't work in its favour. So much for a sequel!
The aforementioned are only a handful of movies that made it on this year's list. There are certainly others out there that didn't make the cut. As we sign off 2016, BollyCurry wishes success to all the directors and actors for the upcoming year. Hopefully, we won't even have a chance to do another list in 2017. The only flaw in FAN was its story! SRK's acting was OUTSTANDING! And the amount of hardwork they have put in to make this movie was absolutely amazing! Respect to the team especially VFX team! But in terms of story it could have been better!

FAN was an experience I will never forget. It was such a boring snoozefest of a movie. I almost wanted to leave the cinema half way. The only thing i can appreciate in that was SRK's acting.

It's quite shameful that in Bollywood box office collections decide the quality of the movie. Fan might not have earned much but the way SRK acted, NO ONE else can act that well.
