Farhan Akhtar opens up about his Divorce, reveals the reaction of his Kids

Farhan Akhtar was married to celebrity hairstylist Adhuna Bhabani for 16 years, and later announced his separation in 2016. He has two daughters Shakya and Akira with his ex-wife. After he parted ways with Adhuna, the ex-couple managed to maintain a cordial relationship with each other. Later, the actor happily moved on with his life and is currently dating singer-model Shibani Dandekar.

Despite maintaining a healthy space, Farhan and Adhuna have never chosen to speak about their past. However, in a recent chat with Pinkvilla, the actor broke the long silence over his divorce and revealed how his kids reacted to this news.

Farhan, who is currently on a promotional spree for his upcoming film titled The Sky is Pink, alongside Priyanka Chopra, opened up about his divorce for the first time ever, admitting that it was difficult to break the news to the kids.

Nothing is easy. Anything you tell your child which you think your child doesn't want to hear is never going to be easy. The thing that your child expects you and by you doing it, you will realise that this is what you expect from them. If you can be honest with your child, they are not dumb or stupid. They understand way more than you and me can imagine. They have a sense of an energy of how their parents are feeling. As long as you don't lie to them and you feel 'it's okay, I have told them, they can now do whatever', things will come around. Eventually, a child will understand why you have done what you have done. Maybe not at the moment, but you just have to be honest with them and in turn, they will be honest with you.

Keeping the past bygone, lovebirds Farhan and Shibani have been winning hearts with their romance and cute comradeship. The adorable couple often shares mushy pictures of each other and manage to spend time together despite their busy schedules.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Farhan’s next, The Sky is Pink is a biographical film, based on a love story of a couple, who lose their daughter to pulmonary fibrosis, a serious immune disease. Directed by Shonali Bose, the film stars Priyanka Chopra, Zaira Wasim, and Rohit Saraf, and is slated to release on 11 October 2019.
