Falguni Pathak on recreating and remixing of old songs: "usko jab tod marode hai theek nahi lagta but....."

Falguni Pathak, known as the 'Dandiya Queen,' is a famous Indian singer who mainly sings Gujarati songs. She began her career in 1987 and has become one of the most respected singers in the traditional Gujarati music genre. She has also sung for several Bollywood movies.
Recently, Falguni Pathak collaborated with the Khalasi Trio to create an anthem for COLORS Gujarati. The song was released on July 26 and is available on Jio Cinema and Kaan Phode's YouTube channel. The singer recently engaged in a candid conversation with India Forums and talked about her music, what she feels about the remix and remake culture, how she keeps up with the 'reel trending' era and much more.
Talking about how Indie music has been evolving in the country and even globally and how not-so-known artists get popular when their songs start trending on Instagram reels, she said, "It's a good thing when an artist is getting any kind of recognition". She also added that when it comes to my songs as, well I try my best that the audiences love my songs, but there is never a sense of pressure to make it trend anywhere".
Talking about the remake and remix culture in songs, the veteran singer said, "if I think positively about it, if recreating old songs brings them closer to the new generations and they get a chance to listen to them, it's a good thing, but the songs which the old singers have sung, 'usko jab tod marode hai, wo zara theek nahi lagta. And they must have sung it for a reason, be it Lata ji, Asha ji or others, so I want that whatever they have sang to maintain that essence, apart from that what the modern music is being made, I like it."
In the same interview Falguni Pathak also mentioned that she likes to hear 'Arjit Singh' and enjoys his songs. For the unversed, Faguni Pathak got her big break in 1998 with the release of the album Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi. The title track became very popular, helping Falguni gain widespread attention.
She has also appeared on various TV shows such as Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Kaun Banega Crorepati, Star Dandiya Dhoom, and Comedy Nights With Kapil. Some of her most beloved Hindi songs include Chudi Jo Khanki Haathon Mein, Maine Payal Hai Chhankai, Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye, Pari Hoon Main and others. These songs have cemented her place as a cherished artist in Indian music.
