On Wednesday morning, Hema Malini was officially presented with the winning certificate in Uttar Pradesh. A video capturing the moment was shared on X. Celebrating her victory, Hema Malini joined her party members and expressed her gratitude. Speaking to the press, she said, “I am very happy that I am getting a chance to serve people for the third time. I thank the people... I am getting an opportunity to complete all the work that was left incomplete... I also thank the workers of our alliance.”
Hema Malini’s political journey began in 1999 when she campaigned for fellow actor Vinod Khanna, a BJP candidate for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat in Punjab. In 2003, she was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President APJ Abdul Kalam and officially joined the BJP in 2004. She took on the role of BJP general secretary in 2010 and returned to the Rajya Sabha in 2011 on the recommendation of party general secretary HN Ananth Kumar.
Hema Malini first won the Mathura constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. She retained her seat in the 2019 elections with a significant 60.88% vote share.
With her third term secured, Hema Malini aims to complete her ongoing projects and further contribute to the development of Mathura.
