Esha Deol reveals finding out about Dharmendra's first wife in fourth standard; here's how she reacted

Dharmendra and Hema Malini had an unconventional marriage in 1980. The superstar was already wedded to Prakash Kaur and had four kids, two sons and two daughters from her. The family was dead against his second marriage. Esha Deol was born a year after their marriage. The actress said in an interview she discovered in fourth standard that her mother was wedded to an already married man with a family. A classmate asked her if she had two mothers. In the biography Hema Malini: Beyond The Dream Girl, Esha Deol says, “I immediately snapped back at my classmate, saying, ‘What rubbish! I have only one mother’.”

It is a known fact that Dharmendra never stayed with Hema Malini. He would visit them often and leave. Esha Deol says that is when she understood that her mother was wedded to someone who had a wife, and a family from that lady. But she said she got ample love from Dharmendra so she never felt it was an issue. She is quoted assaying, “But frankly speaking, I never felt bad about it. Till today, I don’t think there is anything wrong with it. And I give full credit to my parents for not making us ever feel uncomfortable.” Fans had noticed how Hema Malini and her daughters were not present for any of the wedding functions of Karan Deol and Drisha Acharya. Esha Deol had wished him on Instagram though.

She said as a kid when she would visit friends’ homes, she would see them with both parents. Esha Deol said then she realized that it was normal to have a father around. But then, her sister and she were groomed in such a manner that they did not feel emotionally disturbed about this. She said she was content being with her mom, and loved her father dearly. She said that when Hema Malinimet with an accident, Sunny Deol personally saw to all the medical requirements of the superstar actress.

It seems Ajeet Deol, the brother of Dharmendra loved Esha Deol and her sister, Ahana dearly. When he was unwell in 2015, they wanted to visit him at home. Esha Deol said Sunny Deol helped her pay him a visit.
