Engineer arrested for bomb threat at Anant Ambani's grand wedding

A suspicious social media post about a potential bomb threat at the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant prompted swift action from the Mumbai Police. The investigation led to the arrest of a 32-year-old engineer from Vadodara, identified as Viral Shah.

According to PTI, Mumbai Police arrested Viral Shah on Tuesday for his alarming social media post concerning Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding. Shah, a Vadodara resident, was apprehended by the crime branch from his Gujarat residence. A police official shared, "He was nabbed this morning by the Mumbai police's crime branch from his residence in Gujarat."

The investigation traced the threatening post to Shah's location in Vadodara. Consequently, a team from the Mumbai crime branch traveled to the city, detained Shah, and brought him to Mumbai for further questioning.

The controversial post was made by a user with the handle @FFSFIR on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “A shameless thought crept into my mind that if a bomb went off at Ambani's wedding, half the world would turn upside down. Trillions of dollars in one pin code.” Following this, Mumbai police deemed the threat a hoax but heightened security around the wedding event at the Bandra-Kurla Complex.

Anant Ambani, the youngest son of business tycoon Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, married Radhika Merchant, daughter of Viren and Shaila Merchant, on July 12. The opulent celebrations took place at the Jio World Convention Centre.

The grand wedding festivities began with pre-wedding events in Gujarat’s Jamnagar in March and a cruise function in Italy in May. The three-day celebration starting July 12 saw attendance from celebrities worldwide, including prominent figures from business, entertainment, sports, and politics. Post-wedding, a blessing ceremony called Shubh Aashirwad was held on June 13, followed by a grand reception on July 14, which included a wider guest list, featuring social media influencers.
