Dulquer Salmaan addresses the reason of taking a break after 'King of Kotha's lukewarm response

Dulquer Salmaan, one of the most versatile actors in Indian cinema, is preparing for his next big release. The actor recently revealed that he had to take a much-needed break after experiencing health issues and dealing with the underwhelming response to his 2023 film King of Kotha. Though the film had generated high expectations, it failed to leave a lasting impact at the box office and received mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike.

In a candid interview, Dulquer shared that the past year had been challenging for him. “I needed a short break. It’s nobody’s fault; some films fell through. I also faced health issues. Last year, I was able to do only one film. Perhaps that was my fault; I didn’t pay enough attention to my health,” he said, acknowledging that his health concerns played a significant role in slowing down his work pace.

Despite his own successful career, Dulquer continues to look up to his father, legendary actor Mammootty, for guidance and inspiration. According to Dulquer, Mammootty is incredibly dedicated to his craft, even after decades in the industry. “My father is always thinking about his characters and movies, even when he’s at home. One day, he suddenly snapped his fingers and said, ‘I got it.’ He was talking about the character in his upcoming movie. He has a one-track mind,” Dulquer shared, expressing admiration for his father’s commitment to acting.

Dulquer was last seen in a cameo role in the much-anticipated Telugu film Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin. The film featured an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone. Now, he is gearing up for his next big release, Lucky Bhaskar, a film directed by Venky Atluri. This will mark Dulquer’s third Telugu project and is being produced by Sithara Entertainment in collaboration with Fortune Four Cinemas. The film will release in multiple languages, including Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi.

With his health on track and exciting projects lined up, Dulquer Salmaan’s fans are eager to see him back in action, continuing to charm audiences across different film industries.
