Mera Balam Thanedaar

COLORS' upcoming show, 'Mera Balam Thanedaar,' is set to premiere soon, featuring the dynamic duo of Shagun Pandey and Shruti Choudhary in lead roles. The two protagonists, portrayed by Shagun and Shruti, embody a striking dichotomy. Shagun takes on the role of an upright IPS Officer with a strong aversion to deceit, while Shruti portrays a student who believes there is no harm in lying for a good cause. Fate brings them together in marriage, unaware that the bride is a minor. As the audience eagerly awaits the show's launch, it boasts a stellar cast, including seasoned actors such as Rajendra Chawla, Vije Bhatia, Rishi Khurana, and Astha Choudhary.

The storyline introduces Vardhan Singh, played by Rajendra Chawla, who was once a formidable figure as the founder of a leading newspaper company. However, in his old age, he exhibits childlike behaviour, often sulking over trivial matters. His son, Vishesh Singh, portrayed by Vije Bhatia, has transformed the family business into a prominent news media house, earning respect as a distinguished news anchor. The Rajawat family, once of royal status, is represented by Devendra Rajawat, played by Rishi Khurana. Devendra is depicted as a male chauvinist and a dominating figure, seeking control over his family members, particularly his wife, Geeta, portrayed by Astha Choudhary. Devendra employs manipulative tactics, including fake suicidal attempts, to enforce his decisions on the family. In contrast, Geeta is portrayed as a devoted wife and a loving mother who starkly contrasts Devendra's authoritative demeanour, creating a compelling dynamic within the Rajawat family.

Rajendra Chawla, who is essaying the role of Vardhan Singh, says, "It has been nine years since I last collaborated with COLORS', and I'm elated that 'Mera Balam Thanedaar' marks my homecoming to the channel. Portraying the role of an elderly character with a childlike heart is going to be a fascinating journey. Delving into the nuances of a personality who, in the twilight of life, throws tantrums for attention has been both challenging and rewarding. It's an interesting exploration of the human yearning for connection and attention, even as the sands of time continue to slip away. For me, this is a reminder that, regardless of age, the need for love, understanding, and attention remains timeless and universal. I hope my fans will love and embrace me as Vardhan Singh."

Vije Bhati, who is playing the role of Vishesh Singh, shares, "I will be seen in the role of a news anchor and Veer's elder brother on 'Mera Balam Thanedaar'. Having been on the receiving end of media interviews as an actor, now taking on the role of a news anchor feels like stepping into the other side of the spotlight – a shift that adds a whole new layer of intrigue to my journey. Embodying this character is all about understanding familial dynamics and rivalry between two families. I'm excited to know what the viewers think of my portrayal of Vishesh."

Aastha Choudhary, portraying the role of Geeta Rajawat, says, "I am playing a positive character. For me, in the show, my children are my prized possessions. I love my younger daughter Bulbul (played by Shruti Choudhary), and I treat her more like a friend than just a daughter. My character, at the same time, also worries about my elder son Ambar (Name not mentioned), who is getting influenced by his father's actions. I am excited to work with this bunch of amazing and talented co-actors. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my fans for consistently showering love on the characters I have portrayed in the past. I eagerly wait for my audience to witness my performance in this new role, and I am excited to receive their continued support."

Rishi Khurana, essaying the role of Devendra Rajawat, shares, "My role is an important role that results in a significant twist in the story. Within the show, my character is someone who imposes strict rules on his daughters while his son enjoys unrestricted freedom. Portraying this role poses a challenge for me, as the character's traits are significantly different from my own in real life. I seek wealthy matches for my children to get married so I can elevate the family's status. I am eagerly waiting for the moment when my audience witnesses me in this new character and extends their support, showering the show with their love."
