Talented actress Chhaya Kadam is basking in glory. She was in Cannes for Payal Kapadia’s award-winning movie All We Imagine as Light. Moreover, she was part of successes like Laapataa Ladies and Madgaon Express. Chhaya Kadam was also in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Of late, there has been a lot of discussion on the infamous temper of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Chhaya Kadam said that while people harp on that aspect no one talks about how he gives creative freedom to his actors. She did an interview where she said he is a meticulous filmmaker with an eye for the smallest details. While Chhaya Kadam did not deny Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s temper and admitted to experiencing it, she said he has the freedom to express himself in this way.

She admitted that some of the things she saw on the set were unfamiliar to her. Kadam said she did not know this style of working. It seems they had a conversation afterwards and things smoothened out.

It seems Sanjay Leela Bhansali gave her the creative freedom to choreograph for her character Rashmibai. The filmmaker was not too convinced with what the choreographers had already created for her. He took inputs from Chhaya Kadam on how she felt the character would dance.

Kadam was quoted as saying, “Then I thought about it and I showed it to him. He really liked it. He gives a lot of freedom. People only talk about his anger but getting this kind of freedom is also very important.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has spoken about how Richa Chadha and he had an argument during the dance sequence. It seems she had given 99 retakes but still it did not land as he wanted it. Finally, Richa lost her cool and was almost in tears. Bhansali captured bits of that emotion in his film. The two later hugged it out.
