Alia Bhatt, who is currently riding high on the critical acclaim of her latest film Jigra, recently opened up about the much-talked-about but ultimately shelved project Inshallah. The film, which was to be directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali (SLB) and star Salman Khan alongside Alia, was highly anticipated. However, after being in the works for a while, Inshallah was abruptly shelved for reasons that were never fully disclosed.

In a recent interview, Alia spoke about how much she admired Bhansali's vision for the project, stating that she had full trust in his decision-making. When asked about the possibility of the film's lead actor being replaced, Alia responded, “Whatever Sanjay sir decides will be the best for the film.” While rumors suggested creative differences between Salman Khan and Bhansali might have been the cause of the project's cancellation, Alia has always remained hopeful about collaborating with the acclaimed filmmaker.

In a previous interview, Bhansali shared how Alia reacted to the news of Inshallah being shelved. He revealed that Alia was deeply affected by the cancellation, emotionally distressed, and even isolated herself for some time to cope with the disappointment. He recounted how, after a week of no communication, he called her and offered her the role of Gangubai in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Bhansali recalled with 'The Hollywood Reporter', “She was confused and asked how she would portray such a vastly different character from what she had prepared for. I reassured her that I saw the strength in her, and I believed she could tap into the essence of Gangubai."

Alia’s transformation into Gangubai won her widespread critical acclaim, and it became one of the most defining performances of her career. Bhansali further praised how Alia fully immersed herself in the character, bringing out a powerful portrayal that continues to resonate with her today.

Looking ahead, the dynamic duo is set to collaborate again for a new project titled Love & War. The film, described as a grand love triangle, will also feature Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in pivotal roles. Scheduled for a March 2026 release, Love & War promises to be yet another epic film from Bhansali, with Alia eager to embark on another cinematic journey with the renowned director.
