Border 2 will be releasing in the Republic Day weekend of 2026. Today, it is officially announced that Varun Dhawan is joining the movie with Sunny Deol. A video was made on the same. However, fans of the OG movie do not seem to be impressed. The dialogue delivery of Varun Dhawan has come across as a ‘parody’ in comparison to the raw intensity and emotion of Border 2. Earlier, Ayushmann Khurrana was supposed to be in the film along with Sunny Deol. But he did not take it up and finally Varun Dhawan came on board.

While people are gaga over Sonu Nigam’s voice on Reddit, they felt the dialogues just did not suit Varun Dhawan. They felt it lacked the gravitas that is needed to convey something that has so much emotion. Netizens said, “Absolutely pathetic man He is not made for this. Sounds like a AIB parody episode intro.” Others too said it felt like he was saying a dialogue in Student Of The Year. But then, Varun Dhawan has played quite a few characters and done quite well on screen. It has become commonplace for rival fans to troll competitors of their faves on social media.
A jubilant Varun Dhawan wrote on his Instagram, “I was just a kid in class four when I went to Chandan cinema and saw Border. And it made such a big impact. I still remember the sense of national pride we all felt in the hall. I began looking up to our armed forces and to this day, I salute how they protect us and keep us safe be it on our borders or during natural calamities.” Border 2 will be produced by Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta. Anurag Singh who made the war epic Kesari will be directing the movie.

Sidharth Malhotra did a fine job as Captain Vikram Batra in Shershaah while Vicky Kaushal was stellar in Uri: The Surgical Strike. Even Tiger Shroff has played a soldier. There will be a lot of comparisons for sure.
