Anurag Kashyap reveals he feels too ‘Scared’ to direct Shah Rukh Khan

Anurag Kashyap, known for his unique vision and bold storytelling, has opened up about his desire to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan. In a recent interview with Humans of Cinema, Kashyap expressed admiration for the iconic actor but revealed the challenges of working with him.

Despite his respect for Shah Rukh Khan's talent, Kashyap disclosed that a collaboration seems unlikely now. He explained how SRK's massive fan base and the pressures of social media have made it daunting for him to venture into a project with the superstar.

Kashyap emphasized his commitment to creative freedom, stating that he prioritizes making the films he believes in over pandering to fan expectations.  “In this day and age of social media, I am terrified by the fanbases big stars have. Actors get typecast because of fans, and the fans want the same things from them again and again. If that doesn’t happen, fans reject it, so even actors get apprehensive about trying new things.”

The director highlighted the impact of fan expectations on actors, noting that they often feel compelled to stick to familiar roles to please their audience. This dynamic, he explained, adds another layer of complexity to the filmmaking process, making it challenging for him to align with SRK's aura.

While Kashyap expressed a desire to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan in the past, he now feels apprehensive about the potential consequences. He cited the lack of commercial success for films like "Fan" as a deterrent to taking creative risks in the industry.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for an exciting project alongside his daughter, Suhana Khan. The father-daughter duo is set to star in "King," marking Suhana's much-anticipated big-screen debut after her successful foray into the digital space with Zoya Akhtar's "The Archies."
