Sooraj Barjatya is coming back to the big screens with an unusual and ambitious project 'Uunchai', which will feature stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Sarika, Neena Gupta, and Parineeti Chopra.

As the film is set to release on the big screens the coming week, India Forums engaged in a candid conversation with Anupam Kher and chatted with him regarding the film, the concept, his competition and many other things.

When asked, "To be having an elderly ensemble with big names like these is such a rare phenomenon in Bollywood, because in the West we see how the Morgan Freemans to Meryl Streeps star in films which have other great veterans too. The approach is entirely different. While we gabe equally big veterans here, why do you think there is a divide or difference in the approach?"

Talking about the same Anupam Kher said,

"It's not like that. I feel that there are few people who are thinking that there is no excitement, but when the film is released, then you will come to know from people's reaction that there is high level of excitement. Earlier, 4-5 years ago it used to happen. but now the content would work, if there are 4-5 people working in it whose background is quite solid and good."

He further added,

"You are right partially about it, but the change which happens is silent. You don't come to know about it. I feel we are moving towards the change, especially for Sooraj Barjatya, making a film like this is a change in itself. So if he has thought about it and he feels that he can make a film like this which can reach to the audience and the world will like it, that's change."

He was further questioned, "When an actor is 5-10 years into the industry, he thinks about his contemporaries and healthy competition. At the current stage where you belong, do you still feel the need to compete and maintain healthy contemporaries?"

To this, Kher exclaimed,

"Totally, I feel without competition, in particular healthy competition, there is no reason to run in the race. Until and unless there are no good athletes running next to you, there is no fun."

He shared an anecdote,

"When I was a kid, and I was running for a race, my PT teacher said, stop, because you will come 2nd even if you run alone, and it took me years to get out of that shock."

He then continued,

"Definitely there should be competition. But my competition is not with my contemporaries, my competition is with Tiger Shroff, and Varun Dhawan, because you have to make competition which is very difficult to achieve . I am not saying that I am looking for the roles that they are doing but I must have the passion that they have at this stage of their life then only it will be fantastic."

The film Uunchai is slated to hit the screens on 11th November 2022.
