Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Alia Bhatt, is just days away from release and has gained official approval. After four substantial changes were recommended, the Central Board of Picture Certification (CBFC) cleared the film with a UA certificate. According to rumours, the Gangubai Kathiawadi filmmakers decided to make changes to the original picture.

A 17-second-long line and graphics were omitted from the film, according to a Bollywood Hungama report. Another change was the replacement of an insulting term, as well as the removal of former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's conversation with Gangubai from the film. Not only that, but a 43-second dialogue with visuals of the late PM "embedding a rose on Gangubai's shoulder" has also been changed, according to the article.

Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is based on a chapter from Hussain Zaidi's novel Mafia Queens of Mumbai. It tells the story of a brothel madam who came to power in Mumbai's streets and battled for equality for the sex worker community. Ajay Devgn, Seema Pahwa, and Vijay Raaz also play key parts in the film.

The songs from the film have already garnered a lot of talk on social media, and Alia Bhatt has gone all out to promote it. Last week, the Raazi actress visited Kolkata and New Delhi to promote the film and its songs, following its international debut at Berlinale in Germany. This Friday, February 25th, the picture will be releasing in theatres.

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt is gearing up for the release of RRR, her first pan-India film. She also recently completed the Delhi schedule of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, in which she will act alongside Ranveer Singh. After an almost 6-year break, Karan Johar returns to the director's chair with this picture. Brahmastra co-starring Alia's real-life lover Ranbir Kapoor's film, is expected to release this year.
