Actors Sudhir Gulyani and Alka Chatwal to feature in a film on 'Tree Marriage' titled ‘Paudha’

In today’s world, where the web is the king of entertainment industry, content creators are taking chances and thinking out of the box. Every day we hear of new concepts and unexplored topics being inculcated in the form of web series’ and films and audience’ too seem impressed with the current scenario of entertainment industry, where content is the king. One of the current trends is content created on a social cause; be it for the support of LGBTQ community, Racism or Menstruation, content creators are now trying to include various social causes to spread awareness. One such social concern is people forcefully being married to trees and animals in order to nullify bad luck in their astrology. 

Young filmmaker Shashwat Dwivedi has come up with an interesting film titled ‘Paudha’ on the same subject. Each year, thousands of Indians are married off to plants, animals, stones, and even trees in order to cancel the fault in their astrology. Featuring popular actors like Sudhir Gulyani and Alka Chatwal in important characters, Paudha is a story of Shravan, a single child of Kishore and Pushpa who is about to get married through an arranged matrimony. When Shravan meets his bride-to-be, Aanchal, he instantly falls in love and they develop a chemistry. Everything goes well, until on the tilak ceremony day, the priest reveals that Shravan had been married to a plant before this marriage. Nagendra, the bride's father takes this out of proportion and claims that he has been fooled. He puts forward a very weird condition. Shravan must divorce the plant if he wishes to marry Aanchal. Giving in to this illogical demand, Kishore and Shravan go on a hunt to find a lawyer to get the divorce done. But situations take an unexpected turn.

Actor Sudhir Gulyani who will be seen playing the role of Shravan’s father in the film is known for his appearances in many videos for Scoopwhoop and Filtercopy and has done supporting roles in many Bollywood films, whereas actress Alka Chatwal who has had a vast career in TV and films, will be seen playing the mother. The film has also been selected to screen at the Jagran film festival. 

The lead characters Shravan and Aanchal are played by newbies Rishi Solanki and Jaya Banerjee, who marked their debut with the film. The film portrays a beautiful father-son relationship beautifully crafted out by cinematographer Sourav Samanta.
