Will Rana Daggubati join Shahid Kapoor as Aurangzeb in the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj film?

Shahid Kapoor has been roped in to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as per a recent announcement. The director of OMG 2 Amit Rai will be helming the film. The shoot is expected to happen from the end of 2024. The famous film producer Dil Raju known for his movies in the Telugu industry is one of the co-producers along with Wakaoo Films. Now, a report has come that makers have approached Rana Daggubati to play the part of Aurangzeb in the period action drama. It seems the makers have sent feelers to the Baahubali star and a detail discussion will ensue after the entire schedule and logistics get in place. A source told an entertainment portal that Rana is the first and foremost choice for the role. But everything needs to fall in place. Even Shahid Kapoor is keen to work with the South Indian hunk. 

It seems the movie is not a biopic. The film is mounted like a period action thriller about one of the greatest events in the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The background is of how he did a daring jailbreak at a time when Deccan faced the Mughal invasion. When he summoned to Agra by Aurangzeb in 1966, Shivaji felt insulted and stormed out of his Court. Sambhaji and he were kept as prisoners. How the Maratha ruler managed to escape is a legendary narrative in history of Maharashtra. 

Amit Rai who made the highly nuanced OMG 2 has finished his script and is busy with pre-production. The film will go floors by the last quarter of 2024. It seems they want to make it in a unique creative format. Shahid Kapoor is all set for intensive preparation for the role. 

Rana Daggubati has the towering personality needed to look like a menacing enemy on screen. Fans in North India love him as Bhallaladeva from Baahubali. He is also a very dedicated actor who loves to experiment with genres.
