If there is one show that has gone through some of the biggest developments in the recent past, it has to be the And TV longrunner, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. The show, that has been on-air for seven years and counting first had actor Saumya Tandon aka Anita Bhabhi quitting the show back in 2020. Following that, actor Nehha Pendse took over last year but now she has exited as well and now, actor Vidisha Srivastava has taken over as the new Anita Bhabhi.
The one constant has been actor Aasif Sheikh, who plays Vibhuti Narayan, Anita Bhabhi's husband throughout these seven years. And hence, when asked about it with ETimes TV, Sheikh said, “The kind of rapport I shared with Saumya Tandon is something I have never found again on this show. She was a hard working woman. The way she had taken the character of Anita Bhabi to a level, it was purely her hard work. She made it multi-layered where she connected with all the characters in a different way. Somehow Nehha Pendse’s association couldn’t work out beyond a year and now we have a new Anita being played by Vidisha."
Talking about how he likes to work in tandem with his co-actors, Aasif says, “I never force my opinion on people. If someone wants to ask something then I am always happy to help. Otherwise I like focusing on my work and making it better.” He admits that it takes time to adjust to a new co-actor, especially when you have a lot of scenes together.
"You work with someone for years and the next day when you come to the set, you see a new person. Now the new person is absolutely empty and disconnected. So,it takes a lot of effort to explain things to them. If the person is not tuned in, then you also lose the tone of the character. And we are a part of a comedy show and comedy is a game of timing. To create that timing, the actors' timing should also be right. Comedy is a craft that you either have or you don't. There is no adjustment. The character of Anita doesn’t do comedy, but situations make her do comedy,” he added.
We hope Srivastava coming in as the new Anita Bhabhi is accepted by the viewers and she is here for the long run.
