2014 Flashback: Who Takes The Cake For The Best Jodi?

Here's presenting to you the best pairs we found from 2014's releases!

After sitting on the couch for hours and watching countless movies that released over the year, we at BollyCurry are crippled. However, the brighter side for y'all is that we did not leave our work undone because nah, that ain't BollyCurry's style. Keeping all the hassle behind us, here's presenting to you the best pairs we found from 2014's releases!

Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Afzal Khan

We don't need to tell you what happens when a heartthrob from Pakistan and a Bollywood princess come together now, do we? Exactly, they set the screens on fire! Loosely based on Rekha's Khoobsurat (1980), 2014's Khoobsurat marks the debut of Fawad Afzal Khan in Bollywood, as he successfully managed to sway buckets of praises from the critics and audience alike. Sonam on the other hand did a fantastic job playing the bubbly and chirpy girl Milli, a type of character blends well with her personality. However, when they came together for the romantic bits, oh boy! we were on the tip of our toes I tell you! Watch the movie and see for yourself!

Do you think this pair needs an introduction? They scorched the silver screen in 2011 with their pairing in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. This year they came together once again for Sidharth Anand's Bang BangGreek god Hrithik Roshan and Barbie doll Katrina Kaif did not disappoint this time either. Bang Bang! is an official remake of Tom Cruise's Knight and Day, and although the film received mixed reviews from critics, it did wonders at the box office. From their flawless dancing moves, to their well toned physique, everything about Kaif and Roshan was in sync! We couldn't help but gaze at them and wonder if there existed anything perfect as them.

Both lead actors of Ek Villain belong to the newer generation of Bollywood actors. Alongside the movie having some of the most soulful songs of the year in its kitty, it also created a stir for the beautiful and innocent chemistry shared by the leads, Kapoor and Malhotra. It is not easy to showcase the pain in love, the pain of losing someone so close to your heart; and perhaps this is what gave them an upper hand in their chemistry. Therefore although the movie had a rather sad end, Kapoor and Malhotra's fresh chemistry left a mark in the hearts of the audience.

Padukone and Khan were paired together in leading roles for the third time in this year's blockbuster hit Happy New Year, after Om Shanti Om (2007) and Chennai Express (2013). Ever since Padukone's debut movie alongside King Khan, they have been applauded for their sizzling chemistry and this movie was no less - both of them were unanimously appreciated! Their one liners, dance sequences and comic timings altogether made them climb the list of best jodi. They might have an odd age gap, but like they say 'age is just a number' because whenever these two come on stage, they never seizes to charm his audience!

Bhatt and Kapoor are both relatively new to the industry. Both starred in one of the highest grossing films of the year since 2 States (2014) entered the 100 crore club. While Bhatt played an intelligent Tamilian, young Kapoor portrayed a slightly geeky yet down-to-earth Punjabi munda. The fresh and crackling chemistry between the lead actors stood out in the movie. Combined with peppy songs and a relatable script based on the popular book of the same name by Chetan Bhagat, 2 States made for an entertaining watch. Besides, college romance is never ending trend and can never give a failed result!

Hasee Toh Phasee wasn't a 100-crore club film but Chopra and Malhotra's heartfelt cum adorable chemistry worked wonders with viewers and critics alike. Parineeti's Meeta is an unusually intelligent and equally baffling geek whereas Sidharth's Nikhil is the very committed and honest guy next door. They are both unconventional characters and the film heavily relied on their charm and chemistry. They pulled it off and how! Both the actors complemented each other very well and their confident acting made for a heart-warming and cute lovable film, which makes stand out among the best duo of 2014.

There were other notable pairs that made 2014 a very memorable year for Bollywood lovers including Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez in Kick, Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon in Heropanti, Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in Holiday, as well as Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.
