Intelligent, attractive yet sober. Jyoti comes from a middle class family and is working in an orphanage (Sishu Mangal), to help her family financially. She has been working since the age of 16, which is when her father fell ill and never regained full health. Being the eldest of the siblings, all the responsibilities came on her and she took them on without being complacent about it. Jyoti loved dancing, and dance to wild abandon. She was the lead dancer of a famous fusion dance group “Bhaghya Asthana’s” group. She would wait every evening to finish work at the orphanage and rush to her rehearsals. Indian as she was, Jyoti strongly refused to wear to skimpy or ‘bare all’ clothes. Jyoti shares a very deep emotional bond with her father. A lot of it goes in sighs and sharing silences. Her mother, Padma makes sure that all the marriage proposals are rejected as she didn’t want to lose her golden goose, and the sole earning member of the family.

Jyoti is Sushma’s ‘Heroine’ and she makes it very apparent to all about it.
