''Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani' is a remake of two Hollywood films, 'The Front Page' and 'Broadcast News,' put together. Shahrukh and Juhi play two very competitive television reporters working for rival channels who would go to any lengths to get a story. Till, they get caught up in the politics of a power struggle between the Chief Minister and the opposition leader. A common man, played by Paresh Rawal, becomes a victim of injustice when he is made into a political scapegoat and condemned to hang. The two reporters, having uncovered the truth, use the media to expose the politicians. They pull this off with the help of a media-craving underworld don, Johnny Lever, against the opposition of their greedy employers, power- hungry politicians and corrupt police.
