Regarding whether macho men cry, it amazes me that the terms like "Don;t cry like a baby". "Don't cry like a girl" are used in several cultures. A global change needs to occur😳 with regard to allowing men to cry 😃
QT, I am guilty of using those lines. There are times when stereotyping is actually not discrmination.
Now for 'Don't cry like a baby': Babies do cry a lot because that is the only way for communication for them. So they cry when hungry, feel sleepy, wet diapers, tummy ache..almost everything. So this phrase when used on an adult means don't cry unnecessarily.
Now for 'Don't cry like a girl': It is a fact that girls are better at showing emotions. The truth also is our hormones works differently. Most women cry or feel depressed during their monthly cycle for no reason. I know some women take offense to what I just mentioned but it is true thatt women become more sensitive during PMS at least for a day or two. So it is not derogatory if someone says 'don't cry like a girl'. It just means that why do you shed tears often? 😛
As I said earlier it irritated me when a male collegue of mine moped around for days at being dumped by his GF but I have been supportive of women when they were treated the same way by guys😳 .
