SRK can't play Don anymore, he does not have the body language for it. He even has that old-man walk now. Also - SRK was soooo hammy as Don, and Kareena ruined it more with her giraffe-like performance on Yeh Mera Dil.
Not sure about Farhan or Ranveer, but if there is intention to make a Don 3 - it SHOULD be without SRK.

Farhan did wanted to work with Srk but Srk did not liked the script. So Farhan decided to went ahead without Srk. I do not blame Farhan here. I think Srk only wants to work in home production movies only.

Although it might not be as effective now that SRK is no longer associated with the project. Otherwise headlines regarding Don3 usually featured SRK for clickbait

He hadn't...it only was talk, nothing substantial...and with the time (especially after the Raees conflicts) also SRK's interest to work with Ritesh Sidwani as producer had fizzled out.
Bekind, I also think that a Don 3 only would have happened with SRK as the producer...but that would not have been to the liking of Excel, I suppose.
