Actually both the actors played the characters which were to their strength. Perhaps comparing Chak De and Sarfarosh might be better.

But it's quite fair to say that SRK as Raj in DDLJ is far more popular than Aamir as Munna in Rangeela. This movie belonged to Urmila as Mili and AshaTai's magical voice.

NOT TRUE AT ALL.

Does not mean if ddlj been dragged forcefully by a greedy Srk for years in one show (still was able to do almost only half of hahk's business, as members always compare these two films) it will automatically give an edge to Rahul over Munna.

Both Rahul and Munna were the iconic characters, but Munna is remembered MORE than Srk's run of the mill Rahul, the same character which he played in other films as well like in kkhh etc where he ended up taking others bride, with no character arch.

Infect Rangeela's Munna is even more celebrated, cherished, loved and appreciated by the audience as been a more complex role to play , audience loved it and still is popular among them in real life compared to this DELULU forum and compared to the filmi Rahul with no substance and Srk's usual shallow acting with no depth in it , laced with his signatured hamming playing that role... contrary to Amir's brilliant and layered portrayal of Rangeela.

And NO, Rangeela was NOT Urmila's film.

It was RGV, Amir, Urmila and A R Rehman's movie

Urmila was not remembered for her acting but mainly for her exposing in Rangeela.

Amir was for his fantastic award worthy performance in a tough memorable role and AR Rehman was for his first mindblowing Hindi Music score.

Fans can over boost ddlj as much as they want as usual, but no one in their right senses can claim as if Rahul was a tough or layered role to play with any character arch unlike Munna , and if Srk did anything exceptional playing it (unlike what Amir did in Rangeela as his brilliant portrayal of Munna).

End of the discussion.

Tanya claims she doesn't write or read long essays...then writes one herself that nobody will ever read.

Out of courtesy I would read it but I'm afraid I would die from laughter so I'll refrain...sorry not sorry.

SRK's Raj n DDLJ is forever iconic. No one even remembers Rangeela or Amir's character name .

What makes a character iconic is if years later, you can remember their names. If those characters get referenced in other films and media and you instantly recognize them like they're your best friend or next-door neighbor. Raj and Simran are in that class of characters.

I couldn't tell you what Aamir's character in Rangeela is named to save my life. On the other hand, I remember Urmila's character, Mili, because she's what the movie is built around.

There's a reason the foreign version of the movie is titled Bollywood Dreams and only showcases Urmila. Aamir is a non-entity for the public.

Aamir in a vacuum is 10x the actor Shahrukh is, but Munna isn't some Award worthy performance. Plus he's just a supporting character, it's Urmila's film out and out. DDLJ is one of the most iconic films which would set the stage for the next 20 years of Bollywood. More importantly it would open International markets. It was a weak year anyway in terms of male performances. Govinda(Coolie No 1) & Arvind Swamy( Bombay) were the best, based on Merit, but they weren't even nominated.

Govinda was

Govinda/Salman/Ajay/Aamir were nominated

Then SRK got on stage and said he wanted to dance like Govinda, fight like Ajay , act like Aamir and look like Salman

Not true at all (except for the first line about Srk and Amir)

* The biggest hit ever of Hindi language Hum aapke hain kaun , was THE FILM, and not ddlj, which OPENED the flood gates for the international markets. You are most welcome to read each and every tabloid and magazine from the 90s that will shout out and confirm this popular fact many times over the years. Ddlj and other Kjo directorials followed the route of HAHK which paved the way for all of the movies.

* Amir was in a supporting character in Rangeela? ..? ? ...I can only show this emotion over this statement ... 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣

* Rangeela was NOT an out & out Urmila's film. She was talk of the town mainly due to her unbeleivable expsoing that was a big thing back in the days.

Amir's Munna was a much loved and a legit iconic character of Rangeela, most of the audience back then rooted for him for the awards and that was a shocker for many incl Amir to see the jury handing over the deserving award of Amir to Srk mainly due to ddlj's business and yrf's lobbying.

This was the last nail in the coffin which made Amir boycotting filmfare award, followed by Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar and Sunny Deol in the following years.

Is it even a debate that Aamir is any day a much better actor than the hamming king just because he is propped up by his aggressive PR?
