The Hundred Men’s Competition 2024 is set to begin with the defending champions, Oval Invincibles, going up against Birmingham Phoenix on July 23 (Tuesday), at the Kennington Oval, London. The Hundred will feature eight teams competing in the 100-ball format, with a total of 34 matches scheduled to take place across various venues in England and Wales. The fourth edition of The Hundred will run from July 23 to August 18.

The teams—Oval Invincibles, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Trent Rockets, Birmingham Phoenix, Northern Superchargers, Welsh Fire and Southern Brave—will each play eight matches, with four at home and four away. The top three teams will advance to the knockout stage, which includes an Eliminator match followed by the final. The team finishing first in the group stage will go directly to the final, while the second and third place teams will compete for the remaining spot in the final.

A comfortable victory for Southern Brave as they chase down the target in 89 balls. Earlier in the day, London Spirit won the toss and elected to bat first, however, Craig Overton ran through the top-order by reducing them to 23/3 in no time. Dan Lawrence tried to anchor the innings while Liam Dawson played a pivotal knock to give London Spirit some respectability. In reply, Vince and Hughes came out with all guns blazing and attacked most of the London bowlers. The bowling team had no answers to the onslaught by the openers as they had an excellent partnership. Hughes missed out on his fifty, but skipper Vince notched up brisk fifty and although he was dismissed by Lawrence towards the end, Brave got over the line without any difficulty. A clinical performance indeed.
