Newer gen smokers are a bit more civilized. They at least check for relatively empty spaces or ask for smoking zones or simply wait till they get room. I doubt prev. gen smokers especially the chain smokers gave it that much thought.

The elders in my family puff away sitting in the living room or practically anywhere in the house. Kids, no kids...nothing matters.
The next gen is much more civilized and step away if they wanna smoke.
Public smoking is truly a nuisance. People who choose to smoke, please do that in designated places so as to not bother the non-smokers.
