Lanning departed in that pursuit but Capsey found an able ally in Rodrigues, who rattled along to 42 off 24. Kapp then added the finishing touches towards the end, ensuring that the Capitals breached the 170-run mark.

The Mumbai Indians will not be very pleased with their fielding effort. They dropped a couple of chances, and misses a few run-out opportunities. Ishaque did not finish her quota either, despite going at less than six runs per over, and that might go down as a tactical error. Ismail, on MI debut, was brilliant. Sciver-Brunt and Kerr picked up two wickets apiece, although they were expensive.

0.2 Kapp to Matthews, OUT

Edged and gone! Kapp with the early breakthrough! Proper tempter outside off. Full and moving away. Matthews is drawn into the drive away from her body and all she manages is a feather through to the keeper. Just what the Capitals would have wanted; just what MI did not need!

0.3 Kapp to Nat Sciver-Brunt, no run

Huge appeal, not given! Full on middle and leg. Pitches and jags back. Sciver-Brunt plays down the wrong line and gets rapped on the pads. Seemed to be going down leg, prima facie at least, but the Capitals have decided to go upstairs.

By a fair bit too. DC burn a review early in the piece!

There's another rap song that comes on TV for WPL. Like 'ae ladki Tera naam kya hai' etc.

Evenly poised at the first-time out of the innings. The required-run rate has nudged up to over nine runs per over, but still under MI's control. If DC are to breathe easy, they need to break this partnership and need to keep picking wickets all the way through
