Innings Break

A listless batting performance from Namibia. They simply couldn’t offer much resistance against a quality Australian bowling lineup. The opening bowlers bowled with venom and the Namibians just weren’t given any opportunities to score. After sustained pressure, the top three all fell for single digits. Van Vuuren and skipper Volschenk were the only two batters to make a notable score with Badenhorst being the only other batter to get into double figures. Tom Straker picks up 3 and Callum Vidler claimed 4 as Australia wrapped this innings up inside 34 overs. Should be a fairly straightforward chase for Australia when they get back out there, just 92 to get.

Congratulations to Australia for their easy victory.

A few hiccups along the way but Australia get home in the end. Namibia deserve a lot of credit for the fact that they even made this competitive after having just 92 runs to defend. The Australian batters will look back and realize that they were probably a little loose with their shot selection, particularly on a wicket where the ball didn’t quite come on to the bat nicely. Australia were 57/5 at one stage and Namibia would’ve felt like they had an outside chance at victory but Australia’s captain Weibgen held the innings together while Macmillan gave company. The skipper saw them through even as Macmillan fell. The Namibian pacers were excellent and kept things very tight. They were constantly posing questions and had the results to show with Brassel picking up three and Badenhorst claiming two.
