Women never had desire of multiple men nor men needed protection or had fear of getting pregnant or pushed in prostitution.
So technically it was allowed in those times n shouldn't be allowed in today's age. Like in Hinduism too there is no limit of how many wife one can have. But Hindu marriage act prohibits multiple marriage but Muslim personal law is allowed. That's why Dharmendra converted to Islam n married hema.
