Jawan (Hindi) recorded a record breaking 178 crore nett over its first three days smashing Pathaan by a huge 18 crore nett and the next best film KGF 2 is another 20 crore nett behind. The box office has been in the doldrums post the pandemic but now the first four weekends are all films post pandemic with figures considerably higher than the older films. Basically the bigger films are pushing openings to another level.
Also in this number of Jawan there is not much of a holiday factor as although it was Janmashtami on day one it is not really a big holiday. It means with a major holiday falling on the right day the potential is even higher than this 178 crore nett with the RIGHT film.
Jawan is setting records across the biggest circuits Mumbai and Delhi / UP and across all southern circuits. The crucial one here as Delhi / UP as Mumbai and South normally go hand in hand but with Delhi / UP also being there means the potential is huge for the film. The top ten opening weekends for films in Hindi language are as follows.
1. Jawan (Hindi) - 1,78,00,00,000 apprx
2. Pathaan (Hindi) - 1,60,57,00,000
3. KGF 2 (Hindi) - 1,40,45,00,000
4. Gadar 2 - The Katha Continues - 1,32,47,00,000
5. Bahubali - The Conclusion (Hindi) - 1,27,28,00,000
6. Sanju - 1,19,33,00,000
7. Tiger Zinda Hai - 1,14,91,00,000
8. Sultan - 1,05,55,00,000
9. Dangal (Hindi) - 1,04,53,00,000
10. Brahmastra (Hindi) - 1,02,54,00,000

Well first of all, a lot of these younger stars are way better actors than the Khans. They can actually act instead of stutter and ham onscreen. And also way better looking and much taller. While SRK was delivering flops for the past years we had a lot of good talent rise up and deliver roles like: Barfi, Sanju,Padmaavat, Gully Boy, Sardar Udham Singh are some examples - this is way beyond the Khans. But hey if you want to watch Kick, Pathaan or Lal Singh Chaddha and pretend it’s still 1997 then great.
Yes, SRK is a big star, but let’s not pretend like he’s the best of the of the best. He’s really not. Hrithik in 2000 dethroned him only. I would say even Ajay and Akshay have done better than him. It will take one flop for SRK to go back down to where he’s been over the last ten years.
Srk had a good run the same way Alia did. Through award purchasing, heavy PR foolery and all sorts of purchased nonsense.
First of don’t get how height is any measure of an actor’s talent seeing as Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr are two of the biggest stars in Hollywood with barely any height lol
As for the movie examples you gave they were so convenient lol. Anyone can cherrypick like that. I could also mention chak de india, swades, my name is khan, kabhi haan kabhi na, lagaan, dil chahta hai, 3 idiots, bajrangi bhaijaan, dabang 1 etc for the Khans and bombay velvet, besharm, cirkus, gunday, kill dil, bhoot haunted ship etc for the actors you mentioned to prove an opposite point to yours 😂😂
Reality is all of them have done good and bad stuff and the good ones mostly work and bad ones flop but the only difference is that being the next level stars they are Khans ki bad ones also earn almost as much if not more than the good ones of the actors you mentioned 😂😂
And no Hritikh didn’t dethrone srk. Only for 1 year of his debut with kaho na pyar hai Hritikh was higher than srk but after that srk came back with a vengeance immediately with k3g, kal ho na ho, devdas etc while hritikh was busy with cr*p stuff like aap mujhe ache lagne lage, na tum jaano na hum, main prem ki dewaani hoon, yaadein etc 😂. The one to detrone srk after his dominance in the 2000s was Salman in the 2010s.
And Ajay and Akshay having done better than him is such a joke lol. Singham, shi*ty golmaal sequels and drishyam movies which are remade from south are the only things that worked for Ajay and sure Akshay had a peak era for a couple of years before covid with his nationalistic movies but uske baad he has had straight 10-15 flops and disasters cuz he is so oversaturated in the media and things got so bad for him that he had to run back to his old movies for nostalgia bait 😂😂
In comparison srk toh only had like 3-4 consecutive flops in the 2010s. If 3/4 flops make srk a has been what is akki with his 10-12 non stop flops then? 😂😂
It ain't going beyond Pathaan as per current trend.
