Yes they took both earlier but guess they wanted to give Root a chance as he's an all-rounder. RR s team s weakness s that they hardly have good all-rounders.

Neal: "Hope Joe Root scores his first IPL runs tonight. He was finally picked for Rajasthan's last two games but never got to bat due to Jaiswal's heroics! "

Sanjay Bangar | RCB Head Coach: This is a lovely, professional franchise to work in, everybody knows their individual roles. Not only this season, but even last season’s experience had been outstanding. (On the defeat against MI) We were lacking in a couple of areas, we were 10-15 runs short because of a lack of explosive power in the lower end, and that has been a concern for us. We have been trying to address that in multiple ways. Apart from that, I feel we started off defending scores really, really well but our bowling unit has dropped off a bit. Overall, these are the two areas where our focus would be. Everyone understands how tough a tournament this has been, how close things have been. Instead of looking too far ahead, so try and keep the focus on the present and relay certain incidents to the guys that would have happened in our playing times. Give the team a good perspective and keep them relaxed.

Adam Zampa: I have bowled okay without being at my best, there was only one game, the one against Chennai where I bowled really well. I have been inconsistent in the other games. It's nice to have them (family) here, it's a really long tournament, getting some family time definitely makes it a lot easier. Jaipur is a beautiful place with a great culture, lot of happy people around and some cool fashion as well. They both (Ashwin and Chahal) are smart and quality bowlers, they don't have that mystery you get to see in the IPL, but those guys have worked hard at planning. Ashwin has the ability to adapt to different venues and Chahal reads the batters well and has high skill. They (RCB) are top heavy, so early wickets are going to be massive. They have an experienced bowling line-up, so it's going to be a tough game.

Pitch Report: We are on pitch number 5 at the SMS Stadium, this is the centre pitch and expected to be really good. In terms of dimensions, the straight boundaries are longer at 78m while the square boundaries are 66m. There was some cloud cover in the morning but that has disappeared. Second time this pitch is being used after the RRvCSK game, There were runs in that and it will be high scoring again. The pitch looks hard, with some cracks and grass in the middle. It is however a day game and the ball might slow up a bit due to the heat. Both teams would like to bat first, they have won four games each while batting first, opine WV Raman and Simon Katich.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have won the toss and have opted to bat

Faf du Plessis: We will have a bat first. The conditions might favor that, looks like a dry wicket. It is very clear from here on for us, that is not a bad thing sometimes.
