I think with singer-songwriters and performers - they’re both aiming at a different sort of connect to their audience. I, personally, love the intimate setting and feeling of personalisation but I can also understand the awe and spectacle. It depends on the music too really. I think they’re both different sort of experience. Another difference I find is when a singer-songwriter sings their song versus a cover. A cover if well done can absolutely connect with an audience. In fact, I’ve know people who’ve known and loved only the cover versions (I’ve been one of them). But when a songwriter sings/ performs their own song I feel there’s some sort of soul or depth in it that could be missing (I’m not saying it always is) in a cover, For eg. hubby played me this version of Fast car yesterday while driving. I find nothing wrong with it technically - the singer it pitch perfect. He gets all the inflections right and doesn’t exaggerate anything. In fact I would say it’s a good cover. But it cannot beat the original for me. The soul that Tracy infuses into it! 😭 The cover version sounds almost upbeat to me, but Tracy’s is filled with raw desperation and hopelessness. My God this song! 😭

Both excellent choices. See most of what I see is effectively covers. But live experience of a cover is totally different than a recorded cover :).

And as you know. I have zero issues with remixes 🤣🤣🤣 (like chura leeya by sagoo 😈😈). 🤣🤣🤣. O the blasphemy !! Kill me now 🗡️🗡️🗡️🤣🤣🤣

Far be it from me to call you out for blasphemy when I can be accused of it myself - liking all those Carnatic fusion adaptations. It would be hypocritical would it not? 😆 We all like what we like. Hubby liked Luke’s version but kiddo and I swore by Tracy’s. So there you have it 🤷🏽‍♀️😀

is that a trick question? 🤣🤣. Answer is obviously yes.

This is one my favs from him

https://youtu.be/ow-Cx9IX4So

Yes, I understand that every life must end, aw-huh,

As we sit alone, I know someday we must go, aw-huh,

Oh I'm a lucky man, to count on both hands

The ones I love,

Some folks just have one,

Yeah, others, they've got none, huh-uh

Stay with me,

Let's just breathe.….

How I wish, how I wish you were here

We're just two lost souls

Swimming in a fish bowl

Year after year

Running over the same old ground

What have we found?

The same old fears

Wish you were here

…… but my mind is just thinking of my lost ones over time … ❤️ with the prev song …. And wishing they were here …

Floyd is one of my go to bands and has been so many times ….

https://youtu.be/Z5X4Q6jFtHgHave you heard this one?

Tell you a little story and it won't take long

'Bout a lazy farmer who wouldn't hoe his corn

The reason why I never could tell

For that young man was always well….
