Anyone else sick of Akshay Kumar these days?

I used to like his movies in the 2000s, he did lots of great comedy movies like Hera Peri, Welcome, Garam Masala etc. and didn't take himself that seriously.

But since the last decade his movies are so boring and generic now. Mostly just lazy patriotism focused BS with no real depth, good performances or memorable scenes.

Still somehow all his movies in the last few years have been hits. The only good ones were Airlift and Good Newz tbh

No not sick exactly, BUT he makes so, so, so many movies, he is like: to the right to the left in the center...and one actor can be multifaceted and have one charming step or pose their fans adore BUT when you get it over and over again, well then you get saturated, the same face, the same smile, the same style....

There is an old saying in my background that goes something like this:

Filet and lobster is great but if you get it every day...then you get bored of it and you are lusting to get meatballs...

p.s.  This is exactly my argument with people who trash new actors, or they want re-makes, or are always comparing. There has to be variety!

I am only tired of Akshay overdose. This man is literally everywhere. Every other ad, every second public service message, has so many films releasing one after the other so frequently.

He is the most overexposed star right now.

I do not have issues with patriotic films. Others have also done patriotic films like Border, CDI, MHN, Lagaan, Dangal, Sarfarosh, Hindustan ki Kasam, LOC Kargil, Shershah, Lakshya etc. So IDK why only Akshay doing patriotic films is a problem.

I think he wants to be taken more seriously as an actor and not be typecast as just a comedy actor or action star. Even he knows that despite being in business for over 2 decades he has never been taken as seriously as an actor as Khans, Ajay, Hrithik are taken seriously as actors.

He has established himself as a saleable star and now wants some sort of legacy hence the patriotic or period films and keeping close to politicians hoping he gets some Padma or National award someday.

Aayushmann's and Akshay Kumar's movies are entertaining with great messaging on social issues of the country. They have mastered this art of movie making. They have best script sense when it comes to Bollywood movies. That's why they are so successful since a while now. So many good movies again and again.

Ayushman shouldn't be compared with Akshay, he actually makes movies about interesting topics and gives good performances.

Akshay's movies meanwhile are completely forgettable and low effort but just jerking off to patriotism is already enough for many Indians apparently. Good Newz and Airlift were the only ones which were at least a bit interesting. Shit like Mission Mangal is a joke though

Ayushman and Akshay are only following footsteps of Aamir Khan in this one. The only one who has mastered the art of doing films with a message and giving even ATBBs through message based films is Aamir who has given 3 Idiots, PK and Dangal (ATBBs) and other big hits like TZP, RDB, Lagaan, Sarfarosh which have message based themes.

Among filmmakers it is Raju Hirani who has mastered the art of giving message based superhits and has 100% success record from Munnabhai series to Sanju (added message against drugs), he has not a single flop or underperformer till date.

Aamir was first to see potential of message on real life socio cultural issues. Even his ads and TV show have social message primarily. Akshay, Ayushmann simply followed footsteps of Aamir seeing his success, though none of them could give ATBBs even in message based films.

Aamir does it best and delivers actually memorable movies (apart from Dhoom 3 and thugs which were missteps). That's why 3 Idiots and Dangal are still loved while most people couldn't tell you about one of Akshay's "social issues" movies..they are all the same and very formulaic.

Hope the Forrest Gump remake is good as well

Sorry. It is Good Newwz type films that are shit. Mission Mangal was a good subject and more films with such themes should be made.

I am glad Akshay is balancing shit like Good Newwz with some better content based films.

I do agree Ayushmann should not be compared to Akshay. He neither has stardom and versatility of Akshay nor his looks, fitness or screen presence and he has never done as many faltu films as Akshay has done. Ayushmann chooses different subjects and thankfully does not do every film that comes his way. Content wise Ayushmann does better subjects than Akshay.

All these movies have been entertainment and issue based. All are genuinely great critically acclaimed and great successful movies.

Housefull series, Rowdy Rathore, 2.0 and Sooryavanshi have been pure entertainers and big hits.

Akshay Kumar has been the biggest success story of last decade.

In 90s he was the king of action.

In 2000s he was the king of comedy.

In 2010s he showed his versatility even more.
