People can pose as woke all they want but fair skin for women is a beauty standard in India and in most of the world. You can't blame her for being happy that her daughter is fair and won't face brickbats from people.
@bold u can say for men too . I mean at university we fair skinned tone guys were treated much better than our dark shade friends in group presentations, as class leaders or any stage activity and also by girls who easily befriended us over non fair guys. Our teacher once rejected the guy as future leader, bcoz he wasn't good enough according to her. And guy was better than everyone in class. .. Even girls in my class used to say how those guys look creep( darker tone ones always). Some of our friends who were much better people and intelligent got rejected bcoz of their skin tone. My friends used to say kaash hum bhi fair hote. Those words by people hurted them big time. The treatment is very different and is terrible
