keeping aside priyanka's own ambition for fame credit etc. if we look at marketing perspective then certainly they will use recognised people like stars -name ,  who have credibility like director  , whom the movie is based like mary kom for authenticity . The main part of promotion is to create awareness for movie and simultaneously attract viewer to see the movie in movie hall. A unknown face or a small time actor hardly create any effect in this regard. The other point is this movie solely based on mary kom so i guess the lead character will promote it and the person who is playing the husband character are just side characters like coach etc. etc. who revolve around the central character. So i guess hardly he have any role in the movie.

The point is, why isn't he a part of promotions? I didn't see him on any of the MK TV promotions. Priyanka is either going alone on those shows or taking Oomung along. Priyanka is snooty with her male co-stars. She had problem with Ranveer when Ranveer was just a two film old, she refused to kiss Anu Kapoor in 7 Khoon Maaf. 

The trailer and the songs of MK say that Darshan is playing an important character. Then why isn't he a part of the promotion?
