CHAPTER 16
After splashing water on her face, until she felt better. she came out of the washroom and decided to completely concentrate on her studies but still her mind would often be diverted by the thought.
Every beep of the phone gave her a sense of excitement,joy to check whether it was him but it all ended with disappointment.
Mayank was sitting in his cabin. He was alone in the office as it was 12:30 am. He was sitting with his hand on his face while a chain of thoughts were running in his mind.
Mayank without thinking about anything suddenly took his phone in hand and dialled her number. Nupur was sitting in her balcony when her phone started ringing seeing his name at first brought a smile to her face but very soon it faded away. Gunjan who was sleeping on hearing the ring shouted "Di phone silent kar dia karo na."
While panicking to stop the loud sound she accidentally received his call. Mayank who was desperatly waiting for the call to be picked up was relieved .
None of them spoke and all they could hear at their end was the sound of their deep breaths which was due to a kind of nervousness. Finally Mayank broke the silence.
"Nupur"
He said softly but while breathing heavily.
Nupur was trying hard to reply but she felt numb. Nothing was coming out of her mouth.
Mayank again spoke
"Nupur sun rahi ho?"
"Haa ..aann. "
She said with a shaky voice which was very strange to Mayank which made him even more nervous.
"Nupur I am sorry.Main..main
..mera matlab hai mujhse badi galti jogayi hai mujhe maaf kar do..main apne naye project me bohot busy tha islye na tumhare text ka na call ka reply kar saka. "
he said while making an excuse because he couldnt pour out his stupidity and moreover he couldnt pour out that he was in love with her.
"Mayank itne busy the to abhi time kaise mil gaya."
She said a bit sternly.
"Dekho Nupur i know main galat hoon par ainda main aisa nahi karungi main tumhe har subah aur sham phone karunga chahe kuch bhi ho jaye even if i am on my death bed."
"Mayank."
She shouted loudly.
"Nupur please mujhe maaf kar do kyu ki hum sab ko tumhari ye smile bohot pasand hai."
He said softly which bought a slight smile to her which he knew.
"Aur haan aj tumhe me ek exclusive authority de raha hoon."
"Acha kaisi authority."
She asked promptly.
"Par sirf aj ke liye warna meri zindagi barbad hai samjho."
"Acha aisa kya."
"Ji haan."
he said sweetly.
"Ab bologe bhi."
"yehi ki aj tum mujhse koi bhi promise le sakti ho."
"Acha to aisa karo jo tumne kaha hai use hi fulfil kar k dikhao."
"Kya wo phone wali baat?"
"Ji haan.Jo mujhe nahi lagta tum kar paoge."
"Kyu nahi kar paunga zarur karunga.Mayank Sharma kuch bhi kar sakta hai."
"Karo to janu main ki Mayank Sharma kya kya kar sakta hai."
She said while a smile playing on her lips.
"Challenge accepted. Chalo ab so jao main bhi ghar ke liye nikalta hoon."
"Ghar ke liye?Kahan ho tum?"
"Office me aur kahan."
"Raat ke iss samay par?Mayank tum bade ajeeb ho."
"So to main hoon."
"Ab phone rakho aur ghar pohncho good night."
"Good night."
Saying this he cut the call.
Mayank keeping the phone noticed the smile on his lips and the happiness in his heart. He knew she was the one. She was his need,the need he had felt the day before. The need of the seat to be occupied. The need for a reason for which he would return home early. He knew all of it could only be fulfiled by her and only her.
His heart interrupted but this time he dint let his mind come in between.
"Mayank accept the fact that she is the one."
He shut this interruption too and said
"I know she is the one and i accept that i love her but i will not tell her anything until i see her reciprocating."
After saying the last few words he took a deep sigh and left for home.
Usually his music system would never be turned on and Mayank would be the last person in the family to even think about it but today the air had something weird in it that caused him to start the music. He switched to the radio and kept changing channels for a good song and suddenly his fingers resisted to act any further and he stopped there.

Ho gaya ye dil deewana
Hota hai pyaar kya isne jaana
He started feeling a bit different,a bit nervous ,and a bit of jitters in his stomach. He liked it to such an extent that he started humming the song.
Teri aankhon mein jannat basake chala
Teri zulfon ki chhaaon mein chalta chala
Tere neinon mein chein tere labh pekhushi
Tujhko hi main mohabbat bana ke chala
He remembered all the moments from the day he had gone to fetch her. Her smile,her childish behaviour and his jealousy. He smiled at the thought of jealousy and shrugged off the thought by nodfing his head in a no.
Woh pehli baar jab hum mile
Ho gaye shuru ye silsile
Ho gaya ye dil deewana
Hota hai pyaar kya isne jaana
The lyrics immediately reminded him of their first meeting which actually wasnt a meeting just an encounter from off from where the intensity germinated.
Khilti kaliyon mein dhoondhoon bas
tere nishaan
Main na jaanoon hai aakhir ye kya
karvaan
Tujhe dekhoon to aaye labh pe
khushi
Khuda na kare ho kabhi dooriyaan
He remembered the entire day trying to combat the feelings. He felt that it was the worst day of his life and probably the worst struggle for him. He silently wished that such distance never ever comes between the two.

Hota hai pyaar kya humne jaana
He just smiled and remembered their meeting in her room and then their meeting in his room.
Ho gaya hoon main paagal ab tere

Maine khoke hai chein paayi tujh
mein khushi
Tu bani jaanejaana meri zindagi
He slightly whispered 'I love you Nupur' and hit himself hard on his head just to bring himself back to his senses.

He got down of his car and dialled her number,he knew it was late but he also knew that she would be awake.
Nupur immediately picked up the call
"Hello Nupur main pohnch gaya.Ab since tumne mujhe phone karne ka challenge diya hai to ab tumhe main sare updates dete rahunga."
"Acha dekhte hai kitne dino tak ye chalta hai. Ab kuch kha lo."
"Haan kha lunga."
"Kha lunga nahi kha lo."
"Ha theek main kha leta hun."
"Theek hai good night,"
"Good night."
After having his food he immediately called her again. Nupur who was awake was actually not expecting it but was awake thinking about the day.
"Tum phir phone kyu kar rahe ho?"
"Kyu ki main janta hoon tum jag rahi ho."
"Bohot jante ho tum. "
"Haan jab shaadi hone wali ho to bohot kuch jannna padta hai."
"Haan Haan.kha lia tumne?"
"Haan kha lia.acha ab ek kaam karo bohot raat hogayi hai sojao tumhre exams bhi hai ab final wala Good night."
"Good night."
And they both cut the call with a smile on their faces.
