Before starting:::
Those members who have visited this series of "JA NOT FICTION" for first time, here are the links of previous 2 Parts, where many many facts on Akbar-MUZ history are present.
Part-1 : https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/topic/3782915
Part-2 : https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/topic/3809107
The following thread is different from what i normally post on the forum. This is all about a painting. But, could not stop myself, since i really liked this topic.
A few weeks back, i saw a thread on the forum. It was an old thread.
In fact, i searched with the keywords "Jodha pictures" or "mariam zamani pictures" on this forum's search, as i thought members must have posted many pictures before i joined.
So, i came across a thread.
There we had the picture of Akbar with a lady, i think on 4th or 5th page of that thread(probably). Maybe page 1 also !!!! (do not remember)
The member who had posted the picture said--->> " Many on FB are saying, that the picture is of Akbar with Ruqaiyya. But, she insisted it being of MUZ.."
Want to make it clear that, it was MUZ !!!!
Cheers to that member.. But do not remember the name of that member..
I myself tried searching that thread AGAIN but could not find it..
I feel, i saw a similar picture yesterday, among the Central journals while searching Portuguese accounts for MUZ..!!!!
That, is a part of the Historical Journals of the Asiatic Society Of Bengal !!!
A very rare possibility..!!! I do not know how it landed on the forum !!!
If someone gets that picture than kindly post it here...
Or atleast search it on the forum, i tried but could not find it. It's here only.
It was a beautiful picture, of Akbar with MUZ in casual, 'white type' dress.!!!
I never saw such a picture of them before.
As per the journal, if that is the same picture, the picture contained the following inscription in Persian language , in a corner ...
"
translated to
Glory of the Faith: Akbar with Mariam Zamani Begum.
I am not an expert of this language. But, the translation is correct because i have directly copied the translation from the journal.
>>>>>
In that portrait Akbar appears seated, holding in his right hand the smoking pipe, and his left arm is thrown round the neck of the queen, who appears standing leaned back against him and supports his left-hand with her left hand.
It was a beautiful picture, of Akbar with MUZ in casual, 'white type' dress.
Anyways, more than that picture, it was the words written there, which i liked:::
" Glory of the Faith: Akbar with Mariam Zamani Begum " ..
This topic was different from my taste of history, but i liked the picture and the the "dignified inscription" on that picture. So, shared here.
Books consulted while searching:
1.
From the archives of Asiatic Society Of Bengal
Paper by Fr. Hosten(date was not clear)
2.
Very slight reference to following book.
De Imperio Magni Mogolis(Italian) by
J. de Laet, Director of Dutch East India Company
Written in 1631.
This book, for first time gives reference for the word "Mariam" in Italian texts, w.r.t. Mughals.
Infact, this word created the problem of Mariam Zamani being a Christian.
This clause has been categorically dismissed.
Argument :: ->Mariam Makani (Akbar's mother) also held title of Mariam, but was not christian.
3.
Armenians: Research
by M. Jacob,

4.
For those, who want to see the picture, printed, the 2nd way is -->
If any one can visit, the archives of Statesman newspaper(India).
This, picture was published in the newspaper on 14th November 1916.
They have the paper also..
Till date, i have seen pictures of Akbar and MUZ, but not a single with Ruqs or Salima...(and 'THIS' picture which people claimed to be of Ruqs was ALSO actually of MUZ...)
A member posted the picture below. I am copying that picture here::
