I can really feel Gurleen's inner turmoil regarding her marriage to Jaspal. They're friends, and she likes him, but she's scared to fall for him to the extent that it hurts.

She feels guilty that because of their marriage, Jaspal might miss out on finding true love, and this marriage could prevent him from falling in love with someone else.

And that "Ranjha Ranjha" song – the first thing that came to my mind was my Veerat. I don't know why, but it's really overwhelming sometimes. The show is not the same without them..... πŸ₯Ίβ€οΈ

I just hope that Gurleen and Jaspal will fall for each other.

Do you know the English translation of the

ranjha -ranjha song??

The song is very romantic. And Jatin sang it beautifully. πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ή

The ranjha ranjha song was adapted from a poem by Bulleh Shah.I believe the song first featured in the movie Raavan. This is the translation of the first paragraph:

Repeating the name of Ranjha

I have become Ranjha myself.

O call me ye all "Dhido-Ranjha,"

let no one call me Heer .

The song is so romantic. Veer could have been a passionate lover to Keerat. It's disappointing how the makers Butchered his character.😞😞

Chapter 47-Jaspal

She looked resplendent in a lehanga of maroon and gold. Her hair had been braided on one side, interwoven with white flowers. She wore no jewellery except for the pendant he had gifted her, a purple glow amidst the hues of fire. She burnt like coal in the middle of a furnace ,reflecting her own light,a halo of flames surrounding her visage.Star struck,he walked towards her and extended a hand,as if to touch her, when a tendril of darkness wrapped itself around her wrist and yanked her backwards.

She tried calling for help yet no sound came from her; the realisation seemed to dawn on her in horror. He cried and tried to run towards her only to find himself frozen on the spot, his legs tied by vines. He struggled against his bindings as more tendrils wrapped themselves around her, encasing her in a cocoon of inky darkness. And then, she was simply gone.

Jaspal woke with a gasp, his face and pillow wet with tears.Without thinking,he leapt out of bed and dashed to the study, picking up the telephone and dialing a familiar number. His heart beat wildly with each ring and after two long minutes, she finally picked up.

"Hello"

"Gurleen....."

He heard a gasp at the other end.

"Jaspal ji,is everything alright?"

He was confused when it finally dawned on him that it was three in the morning in Ludhiana. She had assumed that he called because of an emergency;no wonder she sounded worried.

"Gurleen, don't worry.Everything is fine here. This is just a normal call."

He heard a sigh of relief and smiled to himself. No doubt she had over thought herself to a frenzy.

"So Jaspal ji,am I to assume that this is a friendly call?"

He settled in a chair and made himself comfortable.

"Well,we are to be married in a month.I hoped we could catch up with each other before that. After all,I need to know what I'm getting myself into."he quipped, knowing how annoyed she'd become.

He was rewarded with an annoyed huff;he could imagine her in the middle of her office, pacing while running her hands through her hair, turning redder by the minute as he continued to tease her.

"So you called me at three in the morning just to gauge how much of a devil I am?"

He froze, debating if he should tell her about the dream or not.Technically,it wasn't a problem that had to be solved and it really didn't involve her.And she only expected him to discuss problems which involved the two of them right? So he could be given a pass for concealing this.

"Exactly, you've hit the nail right on the head,"he replied.

"Alright"he could still hear the suspicion colouring her voice.

"Truth be told,I just wanted to talk to you.We barely spoke the last time before Daarji grabbed the phone for an important discussion about the new contract they were about to sign.

"I'm sorry."

He frowned at her apology.

"Whatever for Gurleen?"

"I'm sort of coming in between you and Daarji aren't I?We always talk about the business and end up leaving you outside."

"Come on Gurleen,my job is entirely different from yours.Don't worry about me.We have our own set of excrutiatingly boring discussions."

"Alright,if you say so" she added, rather doubtfully.

They chatted for a few minutes and he continued to tease her until she threatened to cut off all contact till the day they got married which made him apologise profusely, much to her amusement. Finally she hung up,citing some important work and he made it back to his room heart lighter than before.

As he lay back on his bed his mind wandered back to her words.Did daarji spend more time with her than him?Truth be told,he had been shut out of conversations a lot, off late and a part of him did feel terrible. He felt unwanted ,as if people only remembered him only when they needed his help.Till that debacle with Inder veerji,he had been relegated to the shadows and now with Gurleen in the picture, who in Daarji's eyes was a more capable person,he seemed to have disappeared entirely into anonymity.

What if he ended up taking out all his frustration on Gurleen?

If she's smart enough, she'll leave you before you become another Inder and Manveer, his mind whispered.

Was that what his dream was implying?

But would she heal ?And would he be able to digest the fact that he would always be second best for the rest of his life?Would she truly be happy with him?

Unable to bear the onslaught of thoughts,he called it quits and got ready for the day.To his surprise,he saw a very lost looking Jassi di,sitting in the hall, staring aimlessly into space. They looked at each other warily before silently agreeing on a civil discussion.

"Where's Garry?"

"Sleeping in Angad's room."

"You look upset."

"I left Yashraj."

Oh

"And I'm also pregnant."

He blinked slowly.Divorce was something he could deal with ,atleast in terms of trouble shooting .But the emotional fallout coupled with a pregnancy was way beyond his depth. He decided to stick to simple questions.

"What do you want to do?"

She thought for a second.

"I wanted an abortion."

"Wanted?"

"Daarji has forbidden me."

"Forbidden you?"

The conversation was getting weirder by the second.

"Jassi di, I understand you listening to Yashraj and not aborting the baby. But how on earth did daarji get involved? It's your baby."

"Says daarji Ji's chamcha."

That's when he realised something. On the contrary to his claims,he and Jassi di weren't that different, were they? Despite how much they professed to hate their father and reject his principles, weren't they sabotaging their own lives for him? Weren't they wrecking their own mental well being for his approval of all things?Approval which might never come from a person who expressed affection to people based on how useful they were to him?

He wondered if he should try explaining this to do,but then, her hunger for power seemed to overshadow all penchance for self preservation.Suddenly,he felt like laughing.Out of the two of them, Gurleen was the overthinker.Yet here he was sitting with Jassi di at four in the morning , imagining how terrible his future could be.Chuckling at the irony,to his sister's shock,he went to the kitchen to make coffee.

Chapter 48-Gurleen

Gurleen watched the last of the boxes being loaded on the truck which would take all her possessions to Brar mansion. Her return from London had been rather uneventful even though the entire Brar contingent had shown up at the airport to receive her.Prabhjyot later informed her that Daarji had threatened everyone to show up and act all lovey dovey in front of the media.Yet the person she'd been looking for hadn't come ,pulled away on some minute assignment in Patiala. They hadn't spoken ever since, both of them steeped in work.

He wouldn't be back till the week before the wedding, bebe had told her. She'd grimaced internally; she'd have to deal with the wedding preparations on her own.And she had to admit,a part of her did miss him a lot.The revving of a car snapped her out of her thoughts. The vehicle was unfamiliar and as she opened her mouth to call for her mother,a familiar figure stepped out.It was literally a blast from the past.

She stared at him stupefied while the man smirked at her lazily.

"Hello Gurleen, long time no see.You look as beautiful as ever."

Taking a deep breath,she forced a smile .

"Mr.Ahluwalia, it's a pleasure to meet you as well, please come in."

He simply bowed his head in aquiescencence and followed her inside. To her dismay, her mother and brother, both had gone out which left her to deal with their guest alone.

"Can I get you something?"she politely asked.

"Some water would be fine."

She requested Maitri di to get a glass of water. The older woman simply rolled her eyes ,clearly disapproving of her decision to entertain their guest unsupervised. She returned after a while with a glass of icy cold water. He accepted it with humor and promptly placed the glass on the coffee table. They sat in silence when she finally asked.

"Why are you here after all this while?"

"I heard you're getting married."

"So?"

"Is it a love match?"

"Does it matter?"

"It seems very unlikely of you to agree to an arranged marriage ."

"What if it's a love match?"

He simply snorted."Do you honestly wish me to believe that you've fallen for a person after six months of courtship?"

"What if I did?"

"What is so special about these six months that you tossed four years worth feelings down the drain?"

"It's been four years and it's not as if he loved me back then.It was just a crush."

"What if he does now?"

There was a deafening silence as she stared at him in horror.

"Have you gone mad?"

"I'm perfectly serious Gurleen.I made a mistake in college by letting you go .Yes,I admit that it was a crush which cost us our friendship but I realised that I had fallen in love with you over the years.I regret courting her just to spite you."

"How is Devyani?"

"She's doing well, married and settled in Australia ."

She raised an eyebrow at him and he ammended,

"We broke up shortly after college. You were right all this while. We were ill suited ."

"What do you expect me to do?"

"Give me a chance, that's all I ask.You might eventually fall in love with me."

She groaned internally. Why were all the men in her life so obtuse?

"Please get out!"

"Gurleen......."

"Please ,otherwise I'll set Maitri di on you."

A knock on the door caught their attention,

"Am I interrupting something?"

To Gurleen's surprise,Inder veerji stood there, leaning against the door frame, with a smile on his face.

"Sat sri Akaal veerji "she greeted him, turning red with embarassment.

He simply waved her off and sauntered in, greeting Maitri di with a bright smile , ignoring the other man.

"Who do you think you are?"he asked rudely.

Inder veerji simply smiled back at him and politely said,"I could ask the same of the man who's creating a ruckus in the middle of my sister in law's house."

He turned a deep shade of purple,

"She's not married yet.And mark my calendar words, she will be MY wife. Please tell your brother to stay away from her."

"Ah,the depths of your delusion do astound me at times. But where are my manners?I must introduce myself first.I am Inderpal Singh Brar, hockey player extraordinaire and the best brother in law ."he said, winking at her.

She rolled her eyes at him.

"Veerji,this is Jasmeet Ahluwalia."

The man glared at Inder veerji who simply grinned.

Inder veerji spoke up

"Anyways Gurleen,I think it's time to leave."

"Leave?"

"Just go with it he whispered."

Taking the hint,she nodded fervently.

"Yes Veerji,we have a long day ahead of us.And Sunny, I'm afraid I'll have to leave. But I'm sure Maitri di will keep you company."

And the two of them ran out, ignoring the furious man left behind.Once inside the car, they burst into laughter and didn't stop until they had pulled up near the Brar jewellery showroom. She took in her surroundings and asked her brother in law,

"Veerji,why are we here?"

"Bebe wanted to choose your jewellery."

"But I have plenty."

"It's the old man's idea,"he grunted ,"and bebe will do anything for her husband."

Nodding, she disembarked and made it to the entrance when she realised that she was alone. She turned back to him,

"Aren't you coming inside?"she asked him.

"I don't wish to go to a place which has the old man's life force running through it."

She simply stared at him before shaking her head and sending the stairs.

"Gurleen!"he called out.

She turned .

"Talk to him will you?"

She frowned in confusion.

"Something's wrong with him .He hasn't been attending

any of our calls this week.He might pick up if you were to call."

Chapter 49-Jaspal

The night was young ge thought as he stared outside the window at the pelting rain, pitying the poor souls who had gotten caught in the downpour. He knew he was being cowardly by hiding away. He knew he ought to be helping Gurleen with the wedding preparations and the business in general.Yet here he was in Patiala in the pretext of work. The conversation with Jassi di had rattled him enough to cut off contact with everyone at home including Gurleen, yet a part of him was disappointed that she didn't even try calling him for courtesy's sake.

As he wallowed in his thoughts,a loud knock on the door disrupted him.Manoj poked his head inside nervously .

"Er..sir you have a visitor."

He frowned at his frightened countenance and nodded.Manoj disappeared and a hooded figure entered his hotel room.It took him a few seconds to realise that his visitor was wearing a black raincoat which was dripping all over the floor. He stared at his guest while the door closed behind them.

"Hello, who are you and how may I help you?"he asked politely.

The visitor snorted rather inelegantly and pulled down the hood to reveal a familiar face and the eyes which had entranced him.Eyes which were currently shooting daggers at him.

"You can leave your raincoat on that coat stand ,it will dry there. And I'll get you some towels."

He left before she could answer. When he returned,he found her shivering, rubbing her arms while her teeth chattered. She looked so bedraggled that a laugh escaped him.She glared at him in annoyance which only made him laugh harder.

"I've gotten you dry clothes as well. They are mine so they might be a little large on you.You can change in my room."

She huffed her thanks and left.Meanwhile,he prepared two mugs of tea which he placed on the coffee table and settled on the couch awaiting her.She emerged from within the depths of the suite half an hour later clad in one of his kurtas and a pair of patiala pants. She had discarded his proferred clothes and dug around his closet .He raised an eyebrow at her while she simply gave a level stare .

Conceding defeat,he proferred her a mug which she gratefully accepted and to his surprise, sat right beside him, their knees touching. They drank the tea in silence, listening to the thunder roar outside.Placing his empty cup down,he started combing through her wet hair, untangling the knots and smoothening the strands. She stiffened at first before relaxing under his touch. The comfortable silence lasted about twenty minutes after which he finally spoke .

"So,what brings you to Patiala?"

"Inder veerji asked me to talk to you.You haven't been answering any of their calls.Your family is worried about you."

"Is that the only reason why you're here?Because Inder veerji asked?"

"Were you expecting some other reason?"

He felt a surge of anger.

"Obviously!I honestly hoped you would talk to me of your own accord."

"For you to ignore my calls? No thanks!"

"But you didn't even try!"

"I thought you wanted space and time to think,so I didn't want to bother you."

"Had this been your brother or Parjaai, would you have let things be?You would've bugged them till they responded."

She pulled away and turned to face him, looking at him incredulously.

"You can't compare those relationships with what we have."

"Why not? We're going to be married."

"But we barely know each other."

"Then why do you find it alright to travel to Patiala to meet a man whom you barely know and stay with him alone, unchaperoned?"

He regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth but he found himself unable to stop.

"I have been honest with you about my feelings. If you don't return them, it's alright but atleast respect them.Just stop giving me mixed signals."

"Mixed signals? I've made it clear that we're nothing more than friends."

"You don't kiss your friends and pretend nothing has happened. And you don't let them comb through your hair or even touch you in general."

He started pacing the room agitatedly. She rose, vibrating in anger, yet her words were as clear and and sharp as a knife.

"My feelings towards you haven't changed even one bit.I apologise if I led you to believe otherwise.I have clearly made a mistake by coming here.I'll take your leave now and won't impose on your hospitality."

He caught hold of her hand as she turned to leave and pulled her close .

"I just want you to answer me honestly.Do I honestly not mean anything to you?"

"You are a really good friend.I don't harbour any sort of romantic feelings towards you.",she replied stiffly, refusing to meet his eyes.

He let go of her,his eyes brimming with tears.

"It's raining heavily outside so it's not safe to venture outside. Please stay here tonight. There's a spare bedroom you can use.If you need anything, you can contact room service or Manoj."

With that,he left, ignoring the woman who stood there in the middle of the hall, tears streaming down her own face.
