Charu, I want to see Mehul Chopra's face when he reads your shamaa-parwaana research 😆

All my fellow gutter minds 🤗 Actually I don't mind eyelocks as long they are more evolved, as in 'lets go to bed right now!' 😳 But RM's eyelocks are still all about getting lost in each other's eyes 😕

Arshifan, I think shamaa-parwaana example is also used for star-crossed lovers. They can't stay away from each other but if they meet it will end in tragedy. Even English has a phrase for it - moth to the flame.

In real life husband and wife don't do such silly eye locks - agreed. In fact they don't behave at all the way these two do. But what else will they show in in Indian soap. They are not permitted to show anything more and audience wants romance. Have mercy on the poor fellows. 😆

Shama Parwana does not exactly mean star crossed lovers. It is considered the Parwana's fate to get destroyed due to his love for the Shama. It represents a consuming, destroying love.

Now the only thing to be clarified is who is the Shama and who is the Parwana among the duo.

Yes when I found the meaning of Shamaa and since I already know what Diya means (another research🤣), I wondered why they didn't use the word Diya, but now that you have mentioned Diya aur baati hum, I can understand why they didn't use "Diya"😆

Thank you CR for this other explanation, but you know what I really want to know what Symbolism has the Shamaa in RK-Madhu's relationship?, till now many of RK's movies' titles had a relation with events taking place in their life!

By the way someone in the forum gave another explanation to the word Shamaa, they said it also means one who burns herself to enlighten the life of others...

That is the correct meaning of the word Shamaa if seen in isolation. Once associated with Parwaana it represents the all consuming destroying love of the Parwaana.

Lets see what CVs mean in this case.
