The sultry siren of television Negar Z Khan is currently seen on TV in a new avatar in Kasamh Se - that of a businesswoman and glamourous mother who is all set to create havoc in the Walia household. In this chit-chat Negar talks about this new role and the intricate details of her career.
Your character in Kasamh se is an elderly and a negative character. How did you decide to play it?
When the script was being narrated to me, it sounded very exciting. In the beginning, I was reluctant to play the role. But in television, playing the role of a mother doesn't matter. < NAME="_cx" VALUE="1058">< NAME="_cy" VALUE="1164">< NAME="FlashVars" VALUE="">< NAME="Movie" VALUE="http://www.deccanherald.com/deccanherald/adsimages/ac_polishedcategory_180x150.swf">< NAME="Src" VALUE="http://www.deccanherald.com/deccanherald/adsimages/ac_polishedcategory_180x150.swf">< NAME="WMode" VALUE="Window">< NAME="Play" VALUE="-1">< NAME="Loop" VALUE="-1">< NAME="Quality" VALUE="High">< NAME="SAlign" VALUE="">< NAME="Menu" VALUE="-1">< NAME="" VALUE="">< NAME="AllowAccess" VALUE="">< NAME="Scale" VALUE="ShowAll">< NAME="DeviceFont" VALUE="0">< NAME="Movie" VALUE="0">< NAME="BGColor" VALUE="">< NAME="SWRemote" VALUE="">< NAME="Movie" VALUE="">< NAME="SeamlessTabbing" VALUE="1">< NAME="Pro" VALUE="0">< NAME="ProAddress" VALUE="">< NAME="ProPort" VALUE="0"> < src="http://www.deccanherald.com/deccanherald/adsimages/ac_polishedcategory_180x150.swf" menu="false"quality="high" WIDTH="180" HEIGHT="150" ="application/x-shockwave-flash"PLUGINSPAGE=" http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash "></></> < =text/> < src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" =text/> | The looks aren't that of a motherly woman. I look almost as old as my son. The role sounded very powerful to me. Kasamh Se in itself is a great show. Besides that Balaji had called me up many a time. This was the first time that my dates were available according to Balaji's requirements.
Are you doing any other show besides Kasamh se?
I had planned a two months holiday in London after the completion of India Calling. But it had to take a back seat as Balaji called me up. For me, work always comes first. In television, every two roles are similar and at present I just want to stick to Kasamh Se.
I have a long and powerful track in the soap. Maybe after this I would rework on my holiday schedule. And only after that I would decide about any next assignment.
You are working for the first time with Balaji Telefilms. What was the experience like?
Balaji Telefilms is a big company and lots of people are associated with it. It took me almost one week to get myself introduced with the creative heads, fellow actors, directors, etc. I was treated very well and they all were very friendly and sweet. I never felt that I was working for the first time with the production house. Maybe because I have done a lot of work myself. Overall it was a great experience.
How is the rapport with your fellow actors?
Ashwini (Kalsekar) is really helpful. We two have a ball of a time together. Ram (Kapoor) is very sweet. Prachi (Desai) is full of life and bubbly. Frankly speaking, all of them are very down to earth and sweet. None of the guys have any ego or something of that sort. I'm really happy to be the part of such a fantastic unit.
Your entry scene is being shot in Dubai. How much did you enjoy it?
Dubai was a paid holiday for me. I just had to work for three days. After that I got time for my shopping. I have many cousins staying over there. I paid a visit to everyone. It was great fun.
Are you planning to walk the ramp once again?
No. I don't like my life taking a U-turn. I always look forward in life. Ramp modelling is my past, and acting my present. Instead, I had never planned a career in acting. I think God will reveal with time what he has in store for me. Life is full of phases and at the moment, I'm enjoying the present phase of acting in my life.
How much do you enjoy dancing?
I love dancing. It comes naturally to me. I think I learned dancing when I was in my mother's womb. I feel stress free after every dance session. It's a kind of exercise which I enjoy doing.
Do you and your sister Gauhar Khan discuss work at home? Tell us about your bonding.
We both share each and everything of our lives. In fact, whenever I'm confused about making a decision, I always ask for her help. She is an advisor whom I trust fully. Apart from faith, I have a lot of love for my dear sister. |
